Benzos Tolerance so high I don't get why people enjoy benzos at all

sleep IS the high.
this is the 1st time I've seen someone say this, never really occurred to me to be honest!

I'm not a fan of taking things to knock me out, seems like a waste of good drugs, depending on what I've taken to achieve it I'm often left when I wake feeling crappy, hungover, not well rested, and have missed out on REM, or much worse I've slept through the high and drugs are starting to ware off!

I can relate to the idea with other things like ketamine, but don't see the point myself for benzos unless you have real issues not being able to sleep.

@Dr. John Thackery can you explain a bit more what you mean by "sleep IS the high", what are you getting from it, I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong and maybe dosing too high?? 1mg of Xanax pretty much knocks me out, but I can take 60mg of Diazepam and it doesn't do a great deal for me (something I've only bothered doing a couple of times because it's a bit pointless).

clearly different benzos act differently with different people, I still like diazepam the best of all but have to take it with other things to get anything from it at all.

well yeah, if you take them daily for that long your tolerance is going to be too high for you to enjoy them even if you did originally... isn't that kinda obvious?

i’m not even dependent on benzos, but i find that tolerance to any recreational effects (gabaminergic “floatiness” and loss of inhibition) ramps up extreme quickly. like let’s say i havnt used any in one month. by the 3rd out of 10 days i use i need twice as much to even make me drowsy and any of the aforementioned recreational effects are gone.

benzos shine as combo drugs. combined with either opioids or alcohol then you really notice their additional effects.

funny you mention REM sleep. i’m pretty sure than it does shorten the rem cycle from what i’ve read but i don’t notice that they completely eliminate my dream recall the way weed does. i still dream on benzos.

as far as sleep being the high. that’s a personal preference. the way i see it, if you’re trying to escape reality with drugs, altering it is one thing, completely shutting consciousness off is an even farther escape.

i do love the feeling of knowing that im about to go unconscious and just laying my head down and instantly being out.
