For some it is, you have to know how to use it to get high. If you're on other drugs it's probably not safe to do so though.
Look up "stacking gabapentin" & you can read up on how people use or abuse the substance. It really worked for me until recently. Blocked wds from oxy & made me feel fantastic.

Uh oh, the guy just called me with 10 - 8 mg Dilaudid for sale , ahhhhhhhhh
I'm gonna collect them & put them in my stash. I hope I can wait a few weeks before I cave & take em. I probably can considering they weren't that great & I'm not gonna IV anything. Not my style.

You know I went on a bender 3 days in a row sniffing Dilaudid. I got so whacked out I was nodding until 2:30 am last night & had to get up @ 530 am
I had a rough day after 3 days of drug use that I'm not really used to, both Dilaudid & insufflation. But I sniffed every last one out of my little tin box.
I'm ok now after work, but I just couldn't resist doing the opiates. Once I have them I lose all self control & have to use them all until they're gone unless I am saving them for a specific time. The gabapentin kicked in & I feel ok.
That stuff really erases my memory of what I did. I have no clue what I did fri-sun. Just had to spend a fortune to fix my damn car too so I'm kinda low on funds.
The story continues.....

My tolerance to Xanax is low but gabapentin is pretty high & it's not working lately since I've been using too much. Today I took 1900 mg of gabapentin & no Xanax. I was probably going to take a half of a.5 pill.
Just don't wanna drop dead or have respiratory depression. Coming off opiates RN & my mind & body are reeling.
