Yeah it's my disdain for the censorship on youtube specifically, where things have now got to the stage that many content creators dare not use words such as "suicide", "paedophiles", and absurdly even the word "sex". Lest they get their videos de-monetised. Or even worse receive "strikes" on their account. And 3 strikes means a ban!

Its like we've gone back to the 1950s, or even the 1800s, and everything is now run by the most severe and repressed sect of christian fundamentalists ever.

What The actual Fuck is going on!?

It's absolutely crazy how people are complying with this total fucking bull shit. I honestly fear how much further this will go. Where is the backlash and resistance!?

At this rate, AI will be performing the Orwellian job that Winston Smith had in "1984", and removing all prohibited words from Youtube initially, then other social media. You have to wonder what will be next? News broadcasts, Books?

I'm sure you know what the end goal of that bit of state control was, and this is the most terrifying of the many predictions in 1984 that have either already happened, or have began happening so far, imho.

The censorship on YouTube really pisses me off. But it's not consistent. It seems that the British content gets away with much more than the American content. E.g. we seem to be able to say 'fuck' with no repercussions, but it's usually censored on the American uploads. Why is this?
 
The British neuro-divergent content creators tread extremely carefully with regards to all of this. Perhaps they are monitored more closely, perhaps due to the perceived potential "vulnerability" of their viewers? They even have to say "S.H." instead of self-harm!

It seems youtube thinks citizens will be 'triggered' by the mere mention of such words. Or they can't have such unpleasant topics being mentioned on their platform. At least I guess that's the rationale. There must be one.

They have introduced age verification, I believe? So surely adults should be allowed to hear such words.

They can't have age verification AND ban 'naughty' words. :| They cannot have both!! :mad:

Tragically, many content creators are just going along with it. A lot of them rely on the views of their videos for their income. So you can't entirely blame them for being forced to comply. Even though they find ways round the proscribed words to fool the algorithm censor. But the initialisms, bleeps, or silences they are forced to use instead, are SO annoying. I can't even put it into words!

This video has a lot of the answers. It's due to the Online Safety Act that Kier Stalin implemented, and many countries other followed suit.
