I was on this shit last night.





Don't worry, I've not turned gay, I also had some vodka on the go.

But the Mrs fancied some shandy, so I found this in Sainsburys.

Anyway, rather predictably, she didn't like it

So I said, "waste not want not, I'll sup it".


You know what? It ain't too bad at all. And at 3% ABV, it's still fuckin stronger than Carling!!

I've had that one. It's pretty good for day drinking. Feels like you're drinking properly but doesn't get you wrecked. Works well on a warm day.

Fuck non-alcoholic drinks. I wish there were more decent options at 3% and below. Sainsbury's stock a couple of decent radlers but it's at Sainsbury's prices.

That shandy was around £3.50 for 4 cans, which is not too shabby, especially for Sainsburys.

I pay that for 4 cans of Relentless, which has no booze in it...

Makes me wonder if shandy is exempt from the increased alcohol duty? I don't see why it would be, but less than a quid a can is unheard of for that ABV

You're actually dead right. Anything under 3.5% qualifies for lower duty, which is why a lot of beers have dropped their strength to 3.4%.

But 4 cans of Carling which tastes like piss and is only 2.6% ABV, costs more than a quid a can. Weird...

It's so (inexplicably) popular that they can get away with it. Grolsch went from 5% to 4% and is now at 3.4%, but with no decrease in price. And everywhere but here it's still 5%. We tolerate so much bullshit.

Back on the St Omer 8% beer much nicer than karpackie 9% isn't cheap tho €3.25 a can but cheaper overall compared to buying regular beer.
