What will happen using immodium for opiate withdrawals?

Newbie here. I was so happy to learn that Immodium may help reduce WD symptoms. I am 3 days out on quitting oxy 30 cold turkey and need help. I've never heard of using Immodium but I had some and immediately took 3 of them. My question is does weight need to be a consideration when one takes these? I weight about 100 lbs. thanks in advance

Hi K, it will take away withdrawals but it does need to be used cautiously. There have been overdoses and adverse consequences from its misuse at too high doses used for too long. That is why I say to find the lowest dose possible to alleviate your withdrawal, stay there till you stabilize and then reduce by one every other day.You might not feel as good on the second say after dosing but because it is still in your system this keeps you from raising your tolerance level above what you really need and will still keep your withdrawal to a minimum.Do you have any other comfort meds you could take on the second day in between? If you did, added to the immodium this might help even more.

Dosing by weight for immodium is done for its use for diareah but because it wasnt persay designed for opiate withdrawal I dont know of any reccomendations based on weight for that. Its more based on your use and tolerance and perhaps still weight but thats kind of an unknown variable with the other two. You kind of just have to find your dose although Im certain you will need more than three for oxy withdrawal.

Just make sure to be aware that some people can in fact ( including me) trade one habit for another in the form of loperamide- and lope isnt nearly as fun either, lol. But if used responsibly to taper many say that it helped a great deal. Just dont STAY on it.. taper, taper, taper. I would imagine your going to need at least 30 mg which would be 15 loperamide but then again this is just a conservative guess on my part.Perhaps someone that has used them for oxy withdrawal will be able to inform you better but depending on your tolerance you may need more or less.Whether it works for you or not does usually depend on finding the right dose.

As I said above, it takes it about four hours to kick in though, so finding the right dose is kinda pain in the A and takes patience cause you only wanna take the lowest dose you need.I personally have never completed a successful taper with them but know it is possible. How many oxys were you taking and have you taken anymore immodium so far?

I always hear people saying how fear loperamide because they think it's going to plug them up for weeks. I have taken doses ranging from 20-40mg on numerous occasions to get some relief during WD and I never experienced any kind of constipation. In fact on all occasions I was able to shit fine the following day. The only time I get noticeable constipation or stool hardening from opiates is if I go on pretty heavy dope run for 4-5 days. Trying to go after that feels like how I imagine child birth would be like.

Maybe I just have grown a tolerance to those effects of opiates. I don't like to tell people what they experience isn't valid or is all in their head, but I feel like a lot of people just hear other people's fears about lope and don't want to try it themselves simply because it is sold as an 'anti-diarrheal'.
Those people can't think for themselves, the box says it stops ya from pooping so they just take that for all its worth

I haven't logged on to BL in quite a while and find it funny that someone quoted my post from 10 years ago on the very same day I got an urge to pop back in here. This made me happy.
