Will i see a decent government before i die?

They’re a Democratic Socialist party - think Zohran Mamdani and you’re not far off.

Popular (with me at least) policies include …

Legalising all drugs and making drug addiction a purely medical issue.

Decriminalising prostitution taking thousands of sex workers out of the legal system.

Abolishing private landlords.

And obviously plenty of environmental protection policies.

They’re our one hope for a better future in this country tbh.
hmm well id be on board if i lived there

Jesus fuckin christ.

On one of my earlier posts, I referred to Kier Starmer as 'Queer Starmer'.

Guess what. The 'Q' word has been edited out..

Now this wasn't meant as a slur against Karmer's sexuality, or the the gay community in general.

It was simply a play on words and was meant in the original meaning of 'strange' (which Karmer definitely is).

So words with a legitimate meaning are now being cancelled from Bluelight?

I blame the poofs... :p

That was me. Rightly - or apparently wrongly :o - I read that as a slur. Given context I have no problem.

Policing language is simply a fact of life for a site hosted in a country with super strict internet laws like Australia. Literally every staff member is obligated to keep on top of that style of thing. Such is life.

It’s not even necessarily a left/right thing so much as a legal necessity. I, personally, am not a fan of slurs sans context. Context is king when it comes to this moderation stuff. Common sense occasionally has to take second place however much that sucks :\

And the Aussies call us 'whinging poms'?

I used to applaud them for their down to earth no nonsense attitude.

How times have changed .

I blame Neighbours for turning them into a bunch of Sheilas :ROFLMAO:

Sorry, I need to know your pronouns before I can read any of that.
"They / Them." Definitely.

Not because I identify as multiple people, or as having multiple personalities, but because someone explained to me what it actually refers to relatively recently, and I've already forgotten the explanation :roll eyes: .

I have made a deliberate effort to avoid engaging with you. I find your habitual sycophancy and furtive, self-serving conduct not merely distasteful, but fundamentally contemptible. I suggest you extend me the same courtesy of distance. Any further attempt at engagement will be interpreted as deliberate provocation rather than coincidence.

Are any of the lefties grieving for the ayatollah?
Oh yes, I've had black armbands on for several days. 😐

Incidentally, for the first time EVER, a couple of days ago, I found myself agreeing with Keir Starmer, and what he was saying about his position on all of this.

Basically that he will not allow Britain's bases in the area to be used for offensive strikes, but he's fine with using them defensively, to defend our allies and the Britains living in those countries, against enemy drone strikes etc, by bringing them down.

I cannot fault his position on this, for once he seems to have got something right, imo.

Trump may not like it. But Fuck Trump on this. Yeah "Starmer is no Winston Churchill." Very droll and insightful, Donald..

He's no Tony Blair either, thank God, desperate to be a poodle to the USA, and doing everything and anything they want when it comes to military action. Even going so far as to invent reasons for the attacks he authorised.

What's everyone going to do with the millions of huge, used, useless batteries in 5 - 10 years when they have reached the end of their life? Ship them all off to China or developing countries? For them to dispose of them, presumably in landfill sites?
With the sorry sack of shit sad state of environmentalism (or lack thereof), I'm surprised we're not jettisoning them into space via trash barge rocket ships. It's a little early in space exploration/conquerization right now for building trash dumps on the moon, but I'm sure that's around the corner.
