Will i see a decent government before i die?

Jesus fuckin christ.

On one of my earlier posts, I referred to Kier Starmer as 'Queer Starmer'.

Guess what. The 'Q' word has been edited out..

Now this wasn't meant as a slur against Karmer's sexuality, or the the gay community in general.

It was simply a play on words and was meant in the original meaning of 'strange' (which Karmer definitely is).

So words with a legitimate meaning are now being cancelled from Bluelight?

I blame the poofs... :p

My dad used to call my mother 'The Queer One / 'Quare Wan'. Would they cancel my da?
 
Just some inter-generational reality speaking. That's really what people could casually say, although on a one to one basis my father wasn't actually racist, and would always speak a (little) bit of Mandarin or Cantonese in Chinese shops, having spent some time in China as a younger man. We used to get extra respect as kids drinking alcohol because of him.

Interestingly, until the middle of the last century, 'nignog' just meant 'idiot' or equivalent. Nothing racist.

Later on? Very much racist.

I've called him "Kier Stalin" several times. So far that has either been allowed, or slipped under the net.

IF things like that start getting moderated, then we really are fucked. And the police state has arrived in full.

Not just the PC police. Which I can sort of accept as just being a 'sign of the times'. This movement may stop, and re-balance in the other direction again at some point, as a backlash starts to grow,

At least I hope that will happen, when the whole PC censorship thing inevitably will end up going far too far. Arguably, we've already reached that stage some time ago.

It seems many of the more old school amongst us on here would think that.

The 70's were indeed under a 'socialist' government, until Thacher got her claws in, but in reality it was shit.

If you experienced the power cuts, the strikes, the three day working week, and the general social unrest in the 70, it's hard to claim that living standards increased.

However, as a kid at this time, I fuckin loved the power cuts. It was a time of creating shadow bunnies in front of candles. Everywhere was deathly silent. It was like an escape from the normal world.

But it was still grim as fuck...

Yeh, getting sent home with a pamphlet showing you how to build a nuclear shelter using a couple of doors and shitloads of sandbags in four minutes, was a little worrying.

Plus, the NF were at their hight, football violence was totally out of control, and gay bashing was a national sport.
And this was nothing compared to the previous couple of generations that had to endure the war and subsequent rationing.

Gen Z just deserve a good slap to get their heads out of their arse and wake up. The ironic part is that gen Z are supposedly 'woke'. I've never seen a demographic so fuckin comatose in my life...

Used to go to United in the late eighties. Crowds of less than 40000 and brutal overhanging perimeter fences. Plus the smell of piss on the terraces. It was a different time. Then? Hillsborough.

Can't believe I grew up in a world where gay men under 21 weren't even trusted to have a shag.

Yeah it could be grim but why else would rich people pay wages unless they were frightened of strikes? In those days the bosses knew they had to pay decent wagesn- now theres no strikes they dont give two fucks and just keep the money for themselves. A bank boss in the 70s got paid maybe 10 times his lowest workers salary - now he keeps hundreds of times more.

I have made a deliberate effort to avoid engaging with you. I find your habitual sycophancy and furtive, self-serving conduct not merely distasteful, but fundamentally contemptible. I suggest you extend me the same courtesy of distance. Any further attempt at engagement will be interpreted as deliberate provocation rather than coincidence.
