News Severe Co-Codamol Shortage in the UK

Your local NHS surgery more often than not might not even have to see you in person, quite often they will prescribe medication after a brief consultation

I'm in the wrong fucking market then. I script my old man 5mg and 20mg tablets day in day out for his back. Anyone paying £30 a pill has more money than sense.

Thought this struck me as odd… isn’t that essentially verboten these days? Maybe not quite illegal but certainly heavily frowned upon and basically grounds for being struck off?

To be clear, I’m not suggesting I’d report you (racist cunt as you are, I wouldn’t risk a man’s livelihood over a few oxys) but this just seems unlikely or irresponsible.

Paying premium prices for the slightly elevated codeine content. I don't understand why you can get more codeine if it's combined with ibuprofen as that is more abusable...

My local Boots does 500/10.8mg paracetamol/codeine tabs for £8. Not a banger of a deal but possibly passable depending on how much you pay for the 8mg variety.

32 x 500/8s should really only be paying 2-3 quid tops. Otherwise you're getting ripped off. So say about a tenner a gram for codeine in otc co-codamol. About 22 quid a gram for ibuprofen preparations with 12.8mg in. For 500/30 CC tabs I pay about 21 quid a gram. So those 500/8s are definitely a winner price wise if you don't mind doing a little work. DHC works out about just under twenty quid a gram for me.

These are all based on prices from legitimate pharmacies I use. Don't ask why I've worked this all out but I have my reasons.

I just can't do it properly, makes me nauseous every time and have to go straight to bed
Pure tablets absolutely no problem, wonderful

Aye, you think you're doing it wrong and getting too much paracetamol coming through and that's making you feel sick?

Its a bit of work right enough but if you do a couple grams or so at a time then it's worth it. Mighty tempting having those crunchy crispy codeine crystals lying around though. Mmmhmmm.

I don't have the freedom to spend time on messing with it ,eyes on me constantly
So I just used a coffee filter.
It's always clear and I can taste the codeine?

I've also been silly and used a t shirt folded in half when pressed for time
But In total I've maybe tried it 20 times altogether

Yeah, does need a bit of time and space to do it properly. Can do it on the sly with a cover activity maybe but I'm not trying to encourage you.

I just do it because it's a cheap codeine source. Minimal work. Coffee filter over t shirt would be my choice but I'd use a T if I had too. No reason you can't make it work.

Whilst this sucks for recreational users, it truly sucks for those prescribed for legit pain conditions.
It would give them a break from opioid-induced hyperalgesia though. That's the tendency of opioids to increase pain sensitivity ... it's a key factor for habitual reuse/relapse. I explained more on that in this post.

Somewhat ironically, the most sustainable (imo) opioids are all OTC.
