⫸STICKY⫷ Books - Authors & Books Discussion

They are not familiar to me so if you are bored link them up.. otherwise when I get a min I’ll def look into them.. when I get a second too will look into posting my audible library.. last around 4 or so years . Philip is in there.. but I don’t think the rest are.. that’s not saying anything.. looking forward to getting turned on to this

For Roth, be sure to check out American Pastoral and of course Sophie’s Choice.

@SeekingOblivion i rolled a major part of the book, book whatever heart changer totally hooked.. i still am turned off by his constant use of first and family names.. but i’m kinda over it..

17 hours left.. i can’t wait ro see what he does..if this this shit roles up tight and a top ten NYT century listing says it does i think i’m probably all smiles.

I haven't read this book yet, but I've listened to several interviews with its author, John Fugelsang. He's sharp, funny, & he's had an interesting life (starting with his conception!)
John is also an actor, comedian, & political commentator....

Separation of Church and Hate | Book by John Fugelsang | Official Publisher Page | Simon & Schuster https://share.google/K4cUQ13xhaxE1xqka

My favorite authors are Irvine Welsh, Chuck Palahniuk(obviously), Craig Clevenger, William Burroughs, Hunter S. Thompson, and Ken Keasey.
100% the same here too, I have no idea who Craig Clevenger is but the others I am very well aware of & read everything published by Chuck Palahniuk.
The best book for Kesey fans is "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" by Tom Wolfe.

ATM I've just started "The KLF - Chaos Magic And The Band Who Burned A Million Pounds" & have "Pimp: The Story of My Life" by Iceberg Slim waiting as soon as I finished reading on The KLF.

"Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson is kind of wierd... I really like it. If you like sci-fi/post apocalyptical/"cyberpunk" type stuff you might like it. I think a lot of his stuff is kind of like William Gibson's.
Been after "Snow Crash" for ages from the local Library, I find William Gibson hit & miss.
The best work he ever did IMHO was Neuromancer.

I fucking love this book. It had a nearly spiritual effect on me when I was like 18 (not really all that long ago). I'm always trying to get people to read it and I've only gotten one friend to care. Got me into Robert Anton Wilson too.
Please let us know what you think of it.

Got me into Robert Anton Wilson too.
I got into RAW at 17-18 & I am now 45, a Hippie I was living with turned me onto Acid & Psilocybe Semilanceata Mushrooms which made quite an impact upon me. I was reading Prometheus Rising & Cosmic Trigger while eating 3-5 dry grams of mushrooms 2-3 times a week, it's no wonder I ended up on Bluelight Forum in my older years.

I am in total love with the book, I am now 2/3rd's through it & I am already thinking of who I should pass it onto when I finished
I've only gotten one friend to care.
I know the feeling, most people I know wouldn't give a toss about it, to me this book has something about it, you know this book has something about it, it's alive if you know what I mean? It has something about it, I just happened to be in the local bookstore & I was looking through the shelf & it just jumped out at me, being English I knew who The KLF are/were & what they did, due to my age I remember The Timelords - Doctorin' The Tardis in the charts & also when it was on Top Of The Pops as it's burned into my memory in a weird way, I remember them being dressed in black "KKK" looking outfits a bit like Sunn O))) dress up & then Gary Glitter came down the steps (His now a very bad guy in The UK, he was caught for extreme sex crims against kids)

Gary Glitter info

The film Who Killed The KLF is well worth watching, it was on the TV a few months ago, if you are a fan of this book I cannot big up this movie enough to you.

What part of the planet you from?

Channel 4 news report on the "return of The KLF" 23/08/2017

listening to The Line of Beauty by Allan Hollinghurst.. it’s too gay for me.. certainly not anti gay .. just isn’t my thing.. if i want to listen to a sexual novel i want to listen to stuff that turns me personally on.. so based on subjective preferences it isn’t a match for me.

Just starting Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders ..

Just finished

i’m going to have to redo it because i was in the icu and both sick and pretty high on meds so it went right over my head and i really can’t recall what it’s even about

Lincoln in the Bardo was excellent and i can see why it won audio book of the year last year!

Just started Heavy by Kiese Laymon

Just finished The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai

It’s set in the very area I live and explores two time periods the late 80’s and 2015 and looks at the struggles gay men went through when aids hit in the 80’s and a woman looking for an estranged daughter in 2015 Paris . Pretty good book.

Started Barney’s Version by Mordecai Richler

Many of these are great,, Heavy was really good.

I’m really liking Barney’s Version

it's alive if you know what I mean?
Yes it is, almost unbelieveably so. I'm so happy I did happen to read it though, in fact I need to re-read it (for the third time) very soon.
Finding the book was a very different experience for me, because I am young enough to have not had any clue who they are. Just found it on my Uncle's bookshelf and started reading it. He had no interest in it and let me bring it back to the states.

Ireland at the moment. America too. I've spent my whole life bouncing between both places (parents; and the fact that I end up absoultely hating both places after about 12 months).
& also when it was on Top Of The Pops as it's burned into my memory in a weird way, I remember them being dressed in black "KKK" looking outfits a bit like Sunn O))) dress up
It's so funny the idea of the KLF of all people being on top of the pops. The whole attempt of their's to erase themselves from pop culture really worked. I am the only person of my age (22) that actually knows about them and I only know about them from the book. It seems like they were actually really big for a bit. From the book I know that but also from that everyone I talk to who is a bit older than me (from England or Ireland) know exactly who they are. Strange.

Up Eris, down with the lot of the 4masons (or something).

Check this out.
@Perkins : Reborn

Also @Tralfamadorian the whole channel this is taken from is 100% your taste, it covers RAW, Chaos Magick, the work of Gysin in Morroco......all kinds of really great stuff.
Trust me I know very well you'll fall in love with this channel just like I did when I found it.

Man I'm sure I would but is it AI images and voice? the images are whatever, but I just can't get behind the AI voice talking to me. Call it clanker prejudice or whatever. <3

So when you first got hold of the book you had no idea who Robert Anton Wilson was, never heard of Eris & Discordia, never heard the music of KLF?
I was lucky enough when I first began to see this stuff the Internet was at a very basic form & I was living with & scoring mushrooms & weed off people who were very aware of this stuff.
Ireland at the moment. America too.
I live just outside Birmingham, the 2nd City of The UK.
I lived & worked for a few months in Cape Cod, Boston a few years ago with a family member who lives out there, he moved to The USA in the late 1990's & I was asked if I wanted to go live with him for a few months during the Summer.
I wasn't a fan of The USA, well the part I was at anyway, the USA is huge, it is my dream to go see some of the South.
I want to see Mississippi for the reason The Blues came from there, my favourite blues men all come from The Mississippi Delta area.

Youtube has so many videos of Reactions of people around your age & usually from The USA filming their first time reaction to 3am Eternal video etc, it always makes me smile how the people love it & they are all shocked at the year it came out. They are well worth having a look at I promise you.

I always say to people the difference between The USA & The UK is around that time The UK had The KLF - 3am Eternal on the telly & in the charts, The USA had Tiffany - Think were alone now in their charts & on the radio, that is the "gap" between America & England.

It's meant to be A.I. but I am sure it isn't really, the guy who makes the videos is fucking with people.
I know what you mean about A.I. uploads, I cannot watch them for a few seconds, this is something else.

It's impossible to actually pin this Youtube channel down, give it 120 seconds of your life & see what you think.
I am VERY fussy & picky in what I watch on Youtube & for me to subscribe to a channel it has to have "something" special & unique about it, this channel fits that 100%.

Give it 2 minutes / 120 seconds of your life & make your opinion.
This is an example of their content......

"What if your entire personality was just software—written by parents, schools, ads, trauma, and culture? This two-part special dives deep into Robert Anton Wilson’s mind-bending manual for self-reprogramming: Prometheus Rising."
