Good YouTube/etc Channels worth watching

I thought this was pretty good, although there is nothing really new or original, I found it a useful overview and reminder of all the things we can forget all too easily. And end up doing things, or not doing things, that in the mid to long term won't do us any favours.

Some of the other videos on the channel also seem like they'll be worth watching. (Worst habits tier list will be next for me.) I'm already pretty sure what's going to be on S tier, as some of the things I'm doing, which I shouldn't be. There'll be a few other things too.

The tone is not one of 'you should stop ALL of these bad habits and start ALL of these good ones right away', but more a tone of just pick maybe one to work on introducing or getting rid of, and then take things from there. A lot more realistic and liable to be achievable than just being flooded with good intentions, but not achieving or sticking with any of them.

Anyone else noticed a massive increase in the amount of AI content on youtube recently?

It had been steadily increasing for months, but over the last few weeks, maybe a third of the content in my feed is now narrated by AI, maybe written by AI too. I'm not sure about that. A lot of it is complete and utter trash.

And this stuff is doing my head in! If this is the direction things are going in youtube needs to start offering a filter option, to filter out all this AI shite for those that don't like it.

I guess you'll probably only get that option for their £16 a month subscription model :sarcasm:

The most annoying are the ones that put a disclaimer in the intro that no one reads "The voices you hear on this channel are generated using AI for creative and entertainment purposes. They are not real, and no attempt is made to imitate, impersonate, or misrepresent any individual, living or deceased." Which is just a a blatant lie as the AI narrates the content with the exact same voice as David Attenborough for example, or Charlie Munger, Investment guru and co-founder of investment company Berkshire Hathaway. Now in the top 10 of America's largest companies on their stock exchange. And everyone in the comments thinks it really is Attenborough or Munger. :\

There's always someone who notices.

Its only seemed to be me so far on the last few videos I've encountered. I'm reporting the videos for misinformation or for being misleading. But they are not taking any action.

I thought this was a pretty good and interesting explanation of how the USA stock market in particular just keeps going up, with it's value now being at least twice as much as the USA economy itself.

It doesn't necessarily mean that the market is in an overvalued bubble, (although many think it is) but the biggest companies like NVIDIA are genuinely becoming incredibly massive, thanks in large part to all the tax breaks they receive.

In effect these huge corporations end up paying around 2% tax on all their profits.

Also inflation, quantitative easing, and other forces lessen the value of the dollar and the economy, so while that is shrinking, the value of the biggest companies certainly isn't.

This is this guys opinion anyway and it makes a lot of sense.

If America believes in the free market with no interference, then what we are seeing currently is one of the many possibilities - a runaway train.

Who knows if and when it will all come crashing down.

Probably dependent on whether AI manages to deliver on everything that is being anticipated. As it's chiefly AI that is driving all this current growth.

out here. is an interesting channel that focuses on a range of topics centred around art, music and “street culture” - really well produced and edited too. Good stuff!

Best graffiti I ever saw was on a stall door in the men's restroom of a popular college bar in Knoxville in the 1980s.

In huge drunken letters someone had scrawled
I FUCK YOUR MOTHER!

Underneath, somebody else wrote
Go home, Dad. You're drunk.

Jacob Geller is the crowned king of YouTube video essayists on gaming… although they’re not all about gaming. He does other topics too and his gaming topics are so multilayered you could have zero interest in gaming and still find value in them.

Instead of choosing his latest or most popular video, I’ve instead picked the one that initially hooked me in. Shadow of the Colossus is my all time favourite game. Watching this video made me want to watch all of his others.

Vasya does amazing work, the Poverty in rural Russia shocks me every time.
This is Poverty, not some mother in the UK who has 4 kids by 4 seperate men & moans she is poor as she can't afford Netflix.

This is good last evening i watched a doc on mental people in psychosis.
That where taken odf the street s to protectr them from themselves and other s.
The person they followed, was set in a isolation cell after a incident.

Then they got the call, the person in it has gone Mayhem, and smeared graffiti out of his ass on the wall, though later he made his own paint from it.

Gross, the people smeared them selves with menthol and such.
I feel sorry, but get it you can t give that guy a pencil, he probably would have written em in blood otherwise. I appreciate Graffiti using stickers/ markers.

An suprised by the outcome male vs female restroom. Gender matter s.

Adam Conover talks to Bridget Read, author of Little Bosses Everywhere, about how pyramid schemes empowered the New Right and vice versa. A fascinating and disturbing look at the darker side of Capitalism...
