I think @Shady's Fox is missing the point, and over-complicating matters with technical talk that is beyond the grasp of many.
It's like rule no 1 of I.T. (and life in general I think) - "K.I.S.S." Also I think it's what's Occams-razor refers to, in terms of preferring the simplest explanations and solutions over the complex, in any given situation.
It's only when websites deemed to require age verification 'think' the user is in the UK, that they and the user have to go through all this b/s of uploading their face or providing DOB or ID.
If it appears to the website that you're not in the UK, then that is the problem immediately solved, just by having changed the country setting on a VPN. . As easy as that. No b/s required.
And yeah, plus you can also practice piracy if you want.
If I was very foolhardy I might change my country to North Korea or China, if that's even possible, just to see how much further restricted those guys are. But just for the sake of curiosity it's not worth it, appearing on their logs somewhere, attempting to access banned content.
The UK is already bad enough but those countries do not fuck around. Obviously.
I mean I doubt they'd try to extradite me for trying to access pornhub, or far worse, something political, from a Chinese or North Korean IP, but there would be some record somehwere.
