This was absolutely not the case last weekend and as dedicated metal-head, I am only happy for it. I commonly don't indulge on anything but metal/punk, but as this event was free open-air, I indulged and found it rather welcoming, functioning and suiting my taste.

We need more friction!

Yeah, I'm not advocating for any behavioural modifications, just noting what it was like in the uk scene 20-30 years ago with regard to that particular music.

Those early jungle crews/events in uk were often quite dark in many ways, very 'urban cool' and sometimes too cool for school tbh. Tread on someone's toe and you could easily be in trouble. Jungle was spawned in the uk inner cities and was extremely niche, until it wasn't. Spatial awareness was definitely helpful

I find the behavioural expectations in different musical cultures quite interesting. Being quite eclectic in taste I've experienced lots of them and while I always try to remain authentically myself, you've also gotta be aware of where you are and what time it is

I am off to Durga Bhavan on the outskirt of Birmingham City which is the 2nd biggest Durga Temple in Europe so it's big. They have a Kali Shrine there which is RARE to find outside of India. Kali is one of the Das Mahavidyas which in simple terms means she is one of The 10 Tantric Mothers & part of The Shakti / Tantric paths to Liberation, she is given Praise by Left Hand Path Hindus & people who are into Shakti / Kundalini style of Hinduism.

Durga & Kali are linked together so much, it's in several texts but mainly from The Devi Mahatmya where Durga gets Mega pissed off with a male demon & Kali comes out of her 3rd eye then goes on a rampage killing everything, it's why The Aghori & Hindus who follow the Kaula path who worship her. Kaula is linked to Kapala which is also part of Tantric Buddhism, it's a Human Skull shaped into a bowl the aghori & other Left Hand Path Buddhist & Hindus eat, drink & beg with, my "Teacher" of Hinduism who's from Stoke on Trent is Aghori & spent years in India, he walked with Ram Datta Ram Aghori who's his Guru from Goa into Tibet on foot, sleeping in caves etc, begging for food etc & has his own Kapala he still uses to this day.

This is a very fancy Kapala from The Tantric Buddhist tradition, don't think Buddhist people are all Orange robes & being all Hippie for a moment.
