Will i see a decent government before i die?

Rereading some of my earlier posts in this thread I have to say I'm getting on my own nerves a bit. For reasons various I've found myself feeling disillusioned with the past present and ongoing state of British politics and I've expressed that here largely by shitting on everything and that's not fair.

I'm not here to insult anyone for their political affiliation. Ultimately the only reason anyone votes for anything is because they want a better world for themselves and the people they care about and that's not something to dunk on. Views on what is "best" for the country are going to vary from person to person but ultimately when it comes to polling day all any of us are trying to do is make the world a better place in our own way.

Politics may be stupid in many ways, but there is nuance to all things and I want to be open to where people are coming from wherever that may be. I'll try and make more of an effort going forward to keep my contributions constructive and well humoured while keeping my mind open to all points of view, including, and perhaps especially those that don't align with my own.

Stay classy EADD ❤️
this is something I often return to and then move to patterns where I neglect/forget this. There is weird duality to it. It is not difficult to argument for militant attitudes either. Making sense of "how to society?" is like taking a grip of buttered ping pong ball in waves (this is idiom I just made up, long live the idiom). And it also reverts to questions like "how to human?" and "how to life?".

In the end of the day, these internet spaces are medium where making enemies turns barely any benefit but organizing and co-operating is viable.

Yeah, hatespeech and incitement are illegal here. And that is a part of what makes us great ❤️

There's actually a fair chance that Connolly would have gotten off if she didn't plead guilty at the advice of a duty solicitor. This is the case for many, but obviously not all, of the people involved in the Summer riots. Incitement has a legal definition. For example, saying that "somebody should drop a nuclear bomb on France" is not incitement, unless you're actually in a room with access to a nuclear bomb.

Re the NHS, it gets funding roughly in line with other European countries that have much better outcomes. It's horribly mismanaged. The fact that people treat it as a deity isn't helpful.

Fuck Labour :!

However…

That’s some Labour policy I can actually get behind. Why they’re burying it on their website rather than properly announcing it is just plain fukkin bizarre :roll eyes:

However, on the underlying issue, FUCK FUKKIN LABOUR!!! :!:!:!

How you feeling about this post now 😂
I'm disappointed (gutted at some of it on a human level) and at the same time quelle surprise whatsoever

Fully expect them to be more competent / far lesser of the evils compared to Tories tho, but its a very low bar

Got no faith whatsoever in a political solution anymore anyway barring some kinda mass consciousness shift which doesn't appear to be on its way anytime soon, so...I got no answers mind

Anybody got any thoughts on the new Left and Far-Far-Right parties that just sprung up?

Obviously I’m very interested in the Corbyn/Sultana possibilities… considerably less interested in the Reform splinter group/s.

Obviously there is some concern at splitting the ostensibly left wing vote… but given Labour are basically Tories these days I’d really like to see a genuinely Leftist party as an option.

And, even more obviously, we seriously need to switch to a Proportional Representation system of voting to give people on all sides a meaningful say in future voting…

More parties? Fuckkkkk. Don't be pulling my head outta the sand now ffs ( I shouldn't be on this thread probs aaha) Am not looking tonight though as it sounds like a faff and more shite to gawp in astonishment at. Far-far right you say? Would there be space for further 'fars'? The far-far-far-right? Wonder what that would look like? Would have thought such impossibe not that long ago but there's been a paradigm shift in effect and all bets are off. Which is at least interesting

I mean, we could potentially go from our historic 2 party system (essentially) to...well it would be more fun to have maybe 50 parties? 500?

Labour are slightly better than the tories but the country is desperately skint because the rich refuse to pay any tax. They always moan about paying 90% tax in the 70s whilst forgetting thats why we could pay for hospitals and education. Rachel reeves went to the cbi and asked if they could pay a bit of tax and they said "Nah fuck off. Take it off the disabled instead"

If the aim is immediate recovery then any party has an impossible job rn in the aftermath of the 14 years of absolute grim fucking shitshow that we've just seen

No way anything even slightly left of centre-right is getting in next time thanks to, well there's no need to specify. Bend over. The asset stripping will gather apace beyond what we witnessed before and the damage will be pratcically irreversable. Anyway, gonna get my head into less depressing contemplations

Im hoping theres a reaction against Trump and Labour survive after we see how the far right in america collapse the economy.

Anybody got any thoughts on the new Left
I'm not overly keen on parties being formed largely based upon foreign squabbles , especially when Britain has little to no power over said squabble
and Far-Far-Right parties that just sprung up?
There really aren't any unless you're talking about something very small

The Corbyn/Sultana party vying for the top spot against Reform while Labour and the Tories fight over the remaining scraps will be amusing if nothing else

Make sure to pay tribute to the NHS tonight otherwise a rabble of nurses will appear at your door and beat you with pots and pans

It’s a Reform offshoot whose name and Leader I forget. Also a “new type of entity” started by… is it Rupert Lowe? Basically just a lobby group also spun off from Reform who seem to be planning to work with the former example in this paragraph.

Basically, folk who were too far right and/or not gargling Farage’s balls deeply enough to remain in Reform proper.

How long do you reckon it will be reasonable to wheel out the ‘last lot were no good’ line as an excuse for performing poorly?

Anybody got any thoughts on the new Left and Far-Far-Right parties that just sprung up?

We don’t have any far right parties that get any air time in this country, let alone far far right parties.

I feel fantastic about the Corbyn/sultana party though, all the extremist lunatics on the left will vote for them and ensure that reform get in to government and this country will at least have a chance of someone different at the wheel for a few years.
