Looking for a junkie friend

You might wanna reconsider a few things first and become more mindful about what you’re actually inviting into your life. Everybody will be your best friend when there’s drugs to share. Especially if you’re the one providing them.



Theres a thin line between genius and insanity when it comes to having friendships with people that you can do drugs with. It’s hard to find a happy medium with this because anyone can become likable when yall are getting high. I got tired of having to maintain friendships with people that I knew would screw me any chance they could. I may be a drug addict but damn I’m honest…to a fault almost. I ain’t gotta screw anyone over to get my fix. You can be an accountable junky. If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.

We tend to fill our environment with whatever will serve our purpose the quickest. Just be careful about who you surround yourself with. I already know what I’m bringing to the table so I ain’t afraid to eat alone. That’s better then dealing with fucktards
 
I refer to myself as a junkie in order to reclaim the term & be proud of it.

I don't shoot heroin though, but I might if it I could get any anymore.
I prefer intranasal as I'm very inpatient & snorting a line is quicker & more efficient than getting a rig ready. Especially if I'm gonna be using it multiple times a day.


I think junkie can also generally refer to anyone who's an opioid addict or especially an opioid addict + a pill popper. So some one popping oxies & xanax everyday could theoretically be a "junkie", (aka pill junkies) but it's all semantics to me this day and age.

Of course everyone has their technical definitions. But at the end of the day, "junkie" is a derogatory term, that I think a lot of opioid lovers are trying to reclaim & turn it into something endearing. It doesn't bother me really when some one calls me a junkie, I'll own it with pride. But it's their intent for saying it that bothers me. So I offset that by saying "fuck yeah, I'm a total junkie & proud of it!".


I just saw a video on YT of a clearly mentally retarded guy pushing a stroller on fire in Scotland. And the video called him a "junkie" and all the comments are about how bad opioids are & blah blah. Basically a video making fun of a mentally challenged homeless man & then putting it online & using it as a way to cause drug hysteria. Sorry but opioids don't suddenly make people into mentally challenged folks.

Kurt Kobain, Axel Rose, William S Burroughs, Elvis, Rozz Williams & probably a shit ton more people were "junkies" and "opioid addicts" and they were incredibly active & successful. It really pisses me off when the ignorant masses try to push this idea that all opioid addicts are braindead zombies walking the streets. So god damn frustrating. Makes me hate this planet even more.

Junkie is fine as long it is used in the proper context.

"I left the room for ten minutes and that fuckin junky grabbed my computer and jumped out the window" - Valid whether said person uses any substance at all.

"Man what a fuckin junky, he had to go grab a fix half way through the movie" -- Not valid; that is just a user.

I disagree with all due respect; it is simply semantics and we are splitting hairs. I never hear junkie used in a positive way about anyone. Maybe the person using themselves; second they leave the room someone calls em a junky. (great people I know)
 
That junkie is a term we should "reclaim and be proud of" -- It was never "our" word but a derogatory term used to describe the actions of the worst (perhaps majority) of us.

Deathindustrial88 -- I have felt both ways about the issue myself and obviously we are splitting hairs and this is not worth arguing over. Just another perspective; worth no more or less than yours.

First example makes no sense unless the hypothetical person is VISIBLY a heavy user (like track marks etc), otherwise is just a thief / lowlife / wanker.

If the guy in the second example HAD to go get a fix 'cause otherwise he'd be rattling, instead of just fancying some, then yep he's a junkie.

You can reclaim a word without having owned it to begin with. The point is to not let it be a derogatory term. Words only have power over us if we let them. If some some one calls me a junky in a derogatory way, I think it says more about them than me.


As a gay person, i don't particularly like the word "queer", but people use it to describe themselves all the time now. Although queer wasn't always a derogatory term, but it still became one. Lots of drag queens love using the word "fag" as well. Same with black people calling each other "nigga". When we take a derogatory term & use it in a new context, we effectively take away it's power as a negative word.

But yeah some people aren't going to agree with that & that's fine to disagree.

I love heroin & pop pills every day, so I think of myself as a junkie, but not in a bad way. People who don't use drugs are often boring & square to be around anyway.

And according to Merriam Webster, a "junkie" is anyone addicted to narcotics, especially heroin. Why it became "only people who shoot up heroin" & who decided that is beyond me.

And dpoe is that synonymus for Heroine, or used as term including all drugs. Not that it matters much to me but if you are looking for a partner to use drugs with. Or someone who is also a user is not the same, though using drugs with a friend or lover is fun. But thats more with psychedelic or emphatogens imo.

Addiction and relationships, weither both use or only one. Its tricky and maybe youre right and it never works out. Had the same problems with my Cannabis use, while my wife was 'sober', she took 300 mg Tramadol a day prescribed. I was the junky who spend all the money on weed. Instead of plundering the make up/ hair dye section and spending big bugs overthere.

She had a hole in her hand, and I an addiction. But I am single now, just not into taking Heroine.

I did, in The Netherlands we had Herman Brood RIP, who held the honour tittle national rock n roll junkie. Really nice guy, real entertainer and charming. Speed user, alcoholic and liked lady sex paid or unpaid.

At the end he lived of his art, interviews/ shows/ appearences [he wrote poetry] and concert's. But his body at about fifty just gave up. Although he didnt sit it out but jumped of the Hilton.

... You will notice that this nit-picking language policing is ONLY applied when it comes to anything generally viewed as having a negative connotation, never neutral things. I mean I've yet to see anyone whining that joggers should PLEASE be called 'people who jog' and implying you're a horrible bigot if you find that unnecessary and ludicrous.

Very very good points. I always say "Junkie" as an add on to addicted to narcotics. Like "man he became a junkie after like 5 yrs of use and started robbing ppl etc/ w.e

I also do not understand "reclaiming" the n word but im not black so I guess I shouldn't wrack my brain too hard?

Well I support the mission statement. I find it highly inplausable to come back from a term being derogatory but Im all with the idea.

How could I even apply junky in a positive way? "Fuck any junky could do better at the red cross." "A junky woulda known that was a cop an hour ago" Ok im gettin it I think.... forreal thanks for the insight I thought it was just a hair split.
