💥 Contest 💥 Bluelights Favorite: Classic Rock Artist

Zeppelin

Hendrix, although i'm a bigger fan of a few police songs.. police just don't really fit classic rock, so definitley voting with hendrix. if he didn't have "all along the watch tower" and "the wind cried mary", i would vote for the police. "walking on the moon" and a few others are great songs, but Hendrix for the win of classic rock.

was going through my time listening to classic rock radio growing up and felt like this should've been in round 1.. one of my favorite classic rock hits that they play on the stations like the one where they got the picks from this thread from:

also from another band, that jenny song, 867-5309.. kind of have the same vibe... good tunes... always used to hear those songs on classic rock radio.

What's the worst song of rock? The Heat is On? We built this dang city? Douglas Sassafras Bubbletrousers?

^^^^^^the heat is on is not a good song imo, but we built this city is a pretty feel good hit. lol. i like it.

that song fly into the danger zone is annoying...

i'm listening to we built this city right now to remember that song, and that part "marconi plays the mamba. listen to the radio." just that line always made me feel real emotional and was awesome ime... LOL. that song goes in and out of being really emotional to just being normal fun pop music.. parts of it sound really bizarre and hit close to home.

So are y'all good with the next one being 90s rock/alternative artists/bands ?
I'm definitely down with that. Especially if we make it, it will have some better choices that people like honestly.

If anyone has any suggestions for bands that should be in this tournament, please bring them up now so we make sure we don't miss anyone. We can finish this one up, and brainstorm, here and make a new thread whenever the bracket is built.

Also, we've got about ten votes, so, will probably call it here shortly, last call for votes in the radio classic rock conference champion-chip

Somewhere down the line it would be fun to do a contest of one hit wonders. It's interesting how many bands manage to create one truly good song and then zilch after

that's a good idea.

I figured 90s would be good as it seems to be the intersection here on BL between millennials like myself, Gen. x, and older generations... where everyone has opinions and is fairly well versed

s s "We Built This City on Rock and Roll"
Wasn't that in the 80s?

that's a good idea.

I don't know much about more popular rock music of the 90s than I do about the "classics".
90s for me where punk and black metal, and later came a retro phase with 80s/70s.
But I didn't live under a rock, so I'll do my best.

I think it has to be Zep because of Bonham. I don't even know who played drums for Hendrix or Band of Gypsies. Rob Robinson or something?
