AMERICANA | Traditional Roots & Blues (only)

@Jerry Atrick oi my man, sorry for my late reply, confused period here.....learn fingerstyle was my plan but at most I can play a decent rhythmic guitar and I m slowly getting better with slide. Playing this one with my mates at the moment

Btw
1) coming from guitar it is gonna be THAT hard to play banjo
2) any chance of listening to your music? I totally understand if you don t want to break the privacy thing and stuff.
Cheers my man

"Well I don’t know what I'm gonna do
It's killing my friends, gonna kill me to
Hey, hey buddy let the cocaine be
Now some of you people you think your tough
Sniffing that cocaine just like snuff
Hey, hey buddy let the cocaine be"

" hear you mama, hey hey!
Here come Sal with a nose all so’
Doctors said she couldn’t smell no mo’
Lord go doctor, ring the bell
Women in the alley…
I’m simply wild about my good cocaine"

'Just give me one more sniffle
Another sniffle of that dope
Just give me one more sniffle
Another sniffle of that dope
I’ll catch a cow like a cowboy
And throw a bull without a rope'

Just finally saw Billy Strings live. Fantastic show. I always loved his Bluegrass, Americana, etc., whereas I thought his more "out there" jams were just OK. Those jams were awesome live and the other stuff was still great. So, now I will hear more in his music always. Just what a live show should be.

This one somewhat reminds me remind me of our great & troubled community here on BL
"As brothers our troubles are
Locked in each others arms
And you better pray
They never find you
Your back ain't strong enough
For burdens doublefold
They'd crush you down
Down into nothin'
Being born is going blind
And buying down a thousand times
To echoes strung
On pure temptation
Sorrow and solitude
These are the precious things
And the only words
That are worth rememberin'"

fuck the guy was able to write something poetic even about...,going to score smack ( I guess it s bout him going to buy smack , what do u guys think?)

"It's plain to see, the sun won't shine today
But I ain't in the mood for sunshine anyway
Maybe I'll go insane
I got to stop the pain
Or maybe I'll go down to see Kathleen."

Hey man, making the transition from guitar to banjo wasn't all that hard for me. In fact, I started out banjo with a couple of group lessons and pretty much all the other students were guitar players. The two instruments have a couple of things in common although the differences are greater. I chose to learn clawhammer banjo, which is much more different than bluegrass banjo. I don't have enough space here to explain the differences between bluegrass and clawhammer styles but you can find comparison videos on youtube.

I don't mind sharing one of my songs from youtube. I have two channels. One channel has my name associated with a lot of the videos, so I will not be posting any of those. The other channel I created more recently and I posted a video on it this afternoon. It's an Unlisted video so people can only watch it if they have the link. This song was written in 2003 and is my very first original composition. I think I posted a shittier version somewhere around here a couple years ago but this one is a little cleaner.

For the record, I never claimed I could play like Jimi Hendrix. I put more effort into writing lyrics than anything else ;)

thanks a lot and it´s actually cool and I m no virtuoso either, my songs are pretty basic but my bandmates are "real" musicians and like ( and at times rearrange ) them so fuck it. I struggle with lyrics a lot , at least English is your mother tongue, imagine an Italian living in Brazil writing lyrics in...English! But blues in Portuguese or Italian just won t work, as if someone was singing , say, Domenico Murolo in Japanese....
