Is opiod addiction the worst addiction?

i think about weed if i don't have it a ton. it's all i want to do... i've done oxycontin for like a couple months. i was getting 40mg pills for like ten bucks. i was able to get ten at a time like 3 or 4 times, so i'd say i did about 40 or 50 of those pills within like 2 months or so. for a few weeks i was doing like 20mgs every after noon. only once when i had a bit of a tolerance did i go to more than that where i had like 40mgs or an entire pill. the day after that i felt like my bones hurt, i had a headache and felt dizzy. in no way after that did it even cross my mind to do more to try to get the same high or to stop the negative withdrawls. it just felt like i had been poisoned... a few weeks after this my friends stopped getting cheap oxys and all they could get was like 80mgs for 100 bucks and i was like no way does that compare to the price of weed.

this is always the way i looked at it. the amount of weed you get for the price of dope makes the weed more desirable...

i realize too that the amount of time i used really isn't that big of a deal. i didn't really use super high doses and what not. i don't want to down play how some people get addicted to shit.

and... lsd is super addictive if you have an injury and think the lsd is healing your injury. i'm going to make a thread about this sometime.

A LOT of ex opioid users swear by weed for keeping their mind off their former DOC. I haven't touched cannabis for over 20 years - it just gives me anxiety.

If only benzos weren't so destruttive.

BTW I found a cool general route for the N-methylation of secondary amides (>99% yield) and so I figure someone might eventually consider making benmetazepam (N-methyl bentazerpam) which might be OK... well, OK.

Thus:

I do not say it will be GREAT, but anyone who has sampled say nitrazepam & nimetazepam will recognise that the latter is MUCH nicer.

But for whatever reason, bentazepam has a very low dependence liability (it was OTC in Spain until recently). So I like to improve upon the classics ;-)

Alcohol & benzos at the same time?

Bad news.

I drank 2 bottles (1.5l) of vodka a day for over a year & used Heminevrin (clomethiazole) for 12 days to stop. I was lucky, you cannot get clomethiazole any more. When you see how toxic it is even with small amounts of alcohol, you will see why. But I would have even made it because I knew it was life or death....

They made him sick(oxycotins) so being friends I’m sure he knew he was doing me a favor- he played college football and really did need pain pills, but not that much! 200 oxycontin, 150 percosets, 150 Vicodin es, every month, that’s fucking insane, but his doctor was his best friend, since they were kids. Back then, they claimed OxyContin was non-addictive,yea right, that’s why everyone is addicted to heroin. I remember I turned a friend of my brother-ln law to a little line. He was an ex junkie who did all kinds of heroin at Vietnam, he couldnt believe how fucked up he got with such a little line of it. I just hope everyone on this website realizes that all this fucking dope going around is a lose lose situation. If you don’t kill yourself, you’re gonna fuck up the people that loves you, just for a buzz! I need to practice what I preach no doubt! I wish every the best and try to at least ween off the bullshit you’re putting in your body!!
o
I worked in Kentucky for 30 years, living right over the border in Ohio. Lived in Ky. some of those years. Appalachia was hit hard by Oxycontin and so were many people I knew.

You are referring to OD alone as if that is the only danger. You are missing MY point that calling daily heroin use healthy and safe (as done collectively in this thread) is justification to keep using heroin. You do you, man but lets not pretend heroin isnt a lifestyle with side effects. Also it was a "she". But ya good luck with all that then
Ok I'm gonna go now and buy a kilo of heroin and inject it in my penis, idk y u even get mad. It's all just hypothetical. Xdddddd

Absolutely - if you KNOW your material is100% pure and intended for use with a hypo, it's almost impossible to accidentally OD. The people who tested heroin (the German word for 'heroic') were Hoechst workers and they did NOT stint on dosage. They gave people with no tolerance upto 80mg (a large dose) and the only negative symptoms were nausea and in 1 case vomiting (even within their therapeutic range this is common with opioids).

If we were to simply BUY morphine from Afghanistan, we could provide dry-amps of diamorphine hydrochloride (snort, plug, shoot) for pennies. The 'farm gate' price of opium is $1050-$1200/Kg which would make diamorphine cost about $10000/Gg (until Tazmanian Alkaloids introduce their special strains which would double M content and thus provide Australia with an income).

So, if a full gram of H was just $10 or less.

When you know morphine sulfate wholesales for $695.70/Kg, you see that it's a lost cause. Methadone is $632/Kg and oxycodone $3500/Kg. Most others cost more, it's the VOLUME of these 3 that make them so cheap.

Better, possibly, to just let people buy than to let people die.

Blame Nixon. OK so driving and operating heavy machinery is BAD if someone is doped up - but I've been in cars driven by H addicts and I know I would prefer them to be fixed than rattling.

It's the fact that the state no longer controls happiness. THAT is why it is controlled. Why work 20 hours a day if delivering pizza for 10 hours a day is enough to get the material to solve almost all of lifes problems.

We have in effect placed a low on contentment. And this by people who claim 'religion is the opium of the masses;'. No, opium is the opium of th masses. I can understand if ONLY opium were made legal - THA That been in use for over 2000 years but i do not see a history book that states a society was damaged by the availability of opium. The Romans allowed apothecaries to sell it and at a price that even slaves could afford/ Alcohol did much more harm.
Alcohol still does a lot of harm to society yet is legal pshhh. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Btw , I'd rather be in a car being driven by someone on opiates than someone drunk.
Any day of the week.

Bro makes bold statements and then goes “it’s all just hypothetical”. Justification of injecting heroin because its "safe" is hypothetical at all.

What an amazing world would be if opium was sold in coffee shops like the ones they have in Holland for weed.....but no, is better to have people dying for fentanyl or giving money to the Talibans or whoever the fuck rules the Golden Triangle nowadays.....
Absolutely. Fuck fentanyl, fuck the Taliban and specially fuck prohibition.
Since 2007 almost 4000 iranian border cops have died, and I don't even dare to think how many loved ones US families have lost since then...

Why did they die for??

One day, people will look at the whole idea of our current drug prohibition in the same way that we think about human sacrifices, once totally accepted as a social need.
We're fucking primitive, man.

@Snafu in the Void
I don't want to be cavalier about my alcoholism. It was one of the hardest things I've done to quit.
It's tragic. I quit heroin 11 years ago. It wasn't easy, in fact I had to move across the country, but it's so much easier to stay off heroin long term compared to alcohol.

Alcohol's overwhelming accessibility and social acceptance makes it so fucking hard to stay sober. It makes me want to weep, sometimes, that I can't go anywhere without being exposed to it. It's everywhere, everything, at all times.

True dat.

Alcohol and benzos wds By far the worst. You can even die. Delirium tremens is a rapid onset of confusion usually caused by withdrawal from alcohol] When it occurs, it is often three days into the withdrawal symptoms and lasts for two to three days.Physical effects may include shaking, shivering, irregular heart rate, and sweating.People may also hallucinate.Occasionally, a very high body temperature or seizures (colloquially known as "rum fits") may result in death.Alcohol is one of the most dangerous drugs to withdraw from.

Typically Benzodiazepine withdrawal is characterized by sleep disturbance, irritability, mast cell activation, increased tension and anxiety, panic attacks, hand tremor, shaking, sweating, difficulty with concentration, confusion and cognitive difficulty, memory problems, dry retching and nausea, weight loss, palpitations, headache, muscular pain and stiffness, a host of perceptual changes. More serious symptoms may also occur, like coma , hallucinations, paranoia, nightmares, muscle spasms, cramps,etc...
Its an incredible thing that the worst wds are from the legal drugs, and probably the most addictive substances

Agree. But nicotine addiction, while indeed a walk in the park compared to benzo- alch- opi, is incredible insidious and harmful.
Years ago was in hospital for a month, couldn't stand on my legs, but as my bed was by the window, I just fucking rappeled half body out of it to smoke.
Of course I was caught and severely warned against doing it again. Did it again.
Sad, shameful but true story.

Opioid addiction isn't even really that bad from a medical and physical point of view. I think what the sad issue is all about is the actual substance abuse itself.

yea from understanding its all mental and the physcial part is your body withdrawing from something but not dangerous. Like you can't due from cold turkey opioid detox

Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously, I conisder myself pretty mentally strong and I was on fent pills, 10 a day and took a sub not knowing what PW were and I ended up in the ER puking and screaming in pain. I was in so much pain and puking that they gave me morphine b/c they thought my balls were entangled or something ahahah it immediately made me feel better.
