What's a heroin high really like?

Personally I didn't find it as addictive as oxy. Part of that stems from how much cleaner oxy is than heroin but also I always found it difficult the few times I did it(maybe a dozen times) to get the sweet spot. I would often over do it.

Of the dozen or so times I indulged, only twice can I think of having a hit/several hits and getting an overwhelmingly intense feeling of bliss and warmth flow over me. It felt like getting wet from a shower but with joy.

I believe that was probably as close to what a 'real' heroin high is like, and I never achieved such an intense high from any kind of oxy abuse. The speed at which it flowed over me was impressive and I did feel in those moments 'ah so this is why people do heroin' which I never got on the other occasions.

The other times were much more like doing too much morphine. Which I've only abused orally in the form of quick release caps. Had IV but only while in hospital with extensive injuries so I can't judge on that as the pain makes morphine almost imperceptible in those situations. But yeah when I've dropped 40-60mg of morphine with no tolerance and felt real fucked up, nausea and maybe a small vomit with very intense waves of hot flashes, sweats and so on.. Yeah heroin usually feels more like that but all those symptoms are lesser and the high is stronger. So like a more enjoyable strong dose of morphine that would otherwise have me the equivalent of food poisoned but instead just feel a little queezy, flushed but not excessively, clamy but not sweaty.. You get the idea.

The guy who I smoked heroin with made it himself and his batches were always pretty different. He made them from the same kind of morphine pills I've used orally. Home bake heroin or something, I'm not too sure, it's going back a while now. I'd know hes recently cooked some if it smelt like vinegar when I visited.. Stung my eyes when I showed up one day and he had literally just finished. But yeah I never really enjoyed it except those two occasions but even those were spoiled by smoking more eventually in that night and going too far.

I'm a bit fucked up with opiates though and my body really reject them ever since I quit cold turkey years ago. Very annoying when I've injured myself but great for avoiding opiate addiction. But yeah it's like my body fully recognizes it as poison and just wants it out. Even 10mg of oxy will have me vomitting and getting hot flashes these days(well, a couple years ago when I last tried one).

The quality of the heroin you'll find is hit and miss. There's a lot of scramble fentanyl batches out there so if and when you take a bit, keep it small. Small as can be, always do this as a tester. I did this during my heroin days and I never overdosed once. Fentanyl later on however, many times.

Not that I would know personally except I have an intuition and and know people around and I know how things go go it's unfortunately but we could surely argue that's on the whole heroin is now much more more cuts and polluted than cocaine at least on the British streets probably used to be considerably the other way round 30 years ago especially 50.

Everyone who has done heroin, with half a brain, will tell you not to try heroin.

It's one of those drugs that's too good to be true and immediately corrupts your soul... forever. I personally introduced about 5 people in real life to heroin, 3 of them died from it several years later, including my first ever girlfriend from highschool. Weighs heavy on me. It's just the way it is.

We are a harm reduction forum so the warnings about using heroin are only natural, it's up to you if you want to ignore them.

Difficult comparison.

In my personal opinion, yes.

But it's really apples and oranges. Heroin is a lot more 'abusable' and numbs physical and emotional pain, it's much more of an escape from the horrors of life.

It's possible to have a negative MDMA experience, but pretty much impossible to have a 'bad' heroin high assuming it's good heroin (speaking very generally here).

Yes ; different drug class with different effects. Which is why I always find threads with questions like 'is drug X better than drug Z' or 'what is the best high' rather pointless because that's so very subjective. It depends on how well (or badly) an individual responds to a drug and also what they want from the drug. What's the greatest ever drug experience for one person might leave another completely indifferent or be downright unpleasant.

I have to confess I've always considered 'abuse potential' to be a rather debatable concept. Again, because it depends on what you're looking for a drug to deliver, not any inherent fixed quality of the drug itself.

It's obvious why opiates are the substance of choice for many people who are in some way damaged or traumatised, because they offer a way to distance oneself from emotions. On the other hand, somebody who is very closed-off and finds it difficult to bond with others and longs to experience emotion instead, might find empathogenic drugs which facilitate this every bit as irresistible. I believe any substance will get you in trouble if your prime motivation for taking it is to compensate for some lack in your life.

So I have experience with opioids (tramadol, oxycodone) and hence I know what an opioid high feels like (I often nod out on a decent dose of oxy especially if potentiated with a benzo).

But what's a heroin high like compared to other opiates? What makes it unique and so damn desired?

You’d be surprised how prevalent boy is these days, (although the majority is fent passed off as h) even in the sticks somebody’s selling points somewhere…it’s great, cheaper than pills and due to oxy’s ability to be more stimulating will put you into nod quicker. Tolerance will skyrocket however, so you’re right. Blessing in disguise.

It depends. That's such a drastically different drug compared to heroin that it's difficult to say.

If I had to pick between the two I'd pick MDMA - so long as it's actually good. A ton of Molly is fucking garbage around here.

A good shot of heroin is an amazing feeling though. It's a lot better for relaxing and chilling out alone or with a couple people. Don't use alone though

For me personally, heroin doesn't really work. I don't get any euphoria. A bit itchy and hungry. Maybe a bit more comfortable. It will keep me well but I don't get a rush even when I IVd it. Dilaudid, oxy and especially fentanyl, all work way better. But thats not what your average person will say. Most people prefer it to fentanyl, and its cheaper than the other options. I couldn't say if there's anything special to it, not for me.

Opioids make you lovey-dovey when you are still opioid naive, but you're not really in the mood to have sex. Maybe a bit of cuddling and exchanging a few sweet words but that's it. Other than that, the high of morphine and its derivatives in general is very antisocial. When I'm on heroin I don't want to be bothered by anyone.

Sex on amphetamines is a completely different ball game. Amps always make me very animalistic and aggressive sexually speaking. It does feel hot and steamy, but there is something incredibly frantic and obsessive-compulsive about it. And the sexual fantasies and the type of porn you watch when you're wired is sometimes disturbing. Stuff that normally doesn't turn you on at all (or maybe even disgusts you) makes you suddenly very horny. The orgasm is also very unsatisfying due to the fact that you're sexually overstimulated for hours and hours. I don't want to imagine how an amphetamine addiction must feel like. A life filled with neverending porn sessions and 36 tabs of Porn GIFs open all at the same time, constantly switching back and forth between them to capture the sexiest moments while masturbating in front of the screen.

To sum it up: sex on heroin (if it even gets you in the mood) is a smooth and affectionate experience. Sex on amps however turns you into a psychotic sex maniac. The whole thing just feels forced, cold, perverse and the comedown is horrible. Opioids put you into a damask rose cloud, amps kick you down into the second circle of Dante's nine circles of hell where you're just obsessively chasing something that doesn't truly satisfy you.

Yea i kind of had this image of those upper end opium dens from back in Victorian times, or in imperial china, laden with satin of all colors and cushions everywhere, silk wall hangings, with people giving eachother massages and doing opium. Id never go near opium having seen the utter carnage caused by its derivatives, but there is an appealing image of just how utterly blissful it could be. Meth sounds like the evil cousin of MDMA, because MDMA is pure light and transcendence - you just want look into the other persons eyes and tell them that what an amazing being they are. Im so annoyed i never got to realize the full potential of that drug (because it requires two people who are connected already). As for meth, yea it just seems completely filthy, like the ultimate aphrodisiac, sell your soul for the most base form of carnal pleasure. If i ever did take it (which i never will) it would be just to have insane gutter sex, and do the absolute worst things imaginable. Alas im trying to elevate myself these days so i cant be going down that road.

What? No. Opiates aren't hallucinogenic. As for the proverbial 'pipe dreams' which some users/authors claimed back in the day, I've smoked a lot of opium and never had such effects from it.

If it puts you into a light sleep ? like theta ? not sure what the stages are called - but in a light sleep you can get out of body easily. You can construct dreams and so on. This doesnt happen for you ?
