Snafuwocky

About the only claim that supplement makers make for ashwagandha is it supports adrenal function ... be great if you run across any studies if you would share them and I'll do the same with you... I'm guessing they're not common because it's a natural product that can't be patented

yeah, most of the research I did was about how it lowers cortisol and marginally increases testosterone/muscle gain

I remember watching a video by a doctor who was warning about it's effect at increasing serotonin, but I shrugged it off

and yeah the bottle I have vaguely claims it "supports a healthy stress response, liver function, cognitive function, thyroid function and weight management"

pretty big claims there... lol

If anyone's interested comparisons of the main brands didn't realize how many loosely worded manufacturers claims there are

I like Himalaya brand because it combines extract and whole root powder. Life extension has a brand which is only standardized "withanolides" but it didn't seem to do much albeit it's very subtle anyway...

Did not know that it has also been used for bodybuilding. Anybody have successful results?

@darvocet21 I am now experiencing withdrawal from this crap... it feels like an SSRI or AP withdrawal. I am on the verge of brain zaps but haven't had one yet, restless, have that internal "itch" from withdrawal like it feels your body is missing something

fuck man I was only on this crap for 2 months?!

That doesn't sound right, are you sure it's not running out of antipsychotics or stopping them or whatever it was. I seem to recall that you had jettisoned pretty much everything

@darvocet21 yeah definitely withdrawal

I took 200mg and an hour later it went away completely. My normal daily dose was 600-1200mg.

This stuff is definitely not good for long term use
Do you think that this might have the right effect in order to reset receptors at the tail end of a benzo taper?

It will help on some level for sure, specifically in lowering the overall stress from it. I do suggest you give it a shot, just don't take it for more than 2 weeks. What happened to me was textbook misuse.

Also the GABA alkaloids take several days to build up to reach maximum effect. And it does potentiate benzos for sure! I confirmed that, so yeah it will help you taper.

man these ashwaghanda pills have me FUCKED UP in a bad way, my serotonin levels are completely fucked

if I take the pills, I go into serotonin syndrome

if I don't take the pills, I go into withdrawal

meanwhile my serotonin levels are so high 1 small hit of weed or a few drinks of alcohol is enough to push me into hallucinations/agitation/racing heart from high serotonin levels

I'm OK, I will be fine, I just need to taper myself off the pills and limit any drugs

I'm learning all sorts of shit... did you guys know that both cannabis and alcohol acutely raise serotonin significantly? I didn't know that... but yeah they do! When your serotonin level is this high you become hyperaware of what raises and lowers your serotonin. I guess I'm a walking science experiment.

Ah, No!

I'd miss reading your posts on here. Seriously.

Don't post often, myself but when I do scan, always value what I see, when I see Negentropic (and former, aliases).

K. Going to invoke the powers of KC & the sunshine band.😖

Can you not treat yourself better (at least not judge yourself so harshly) than a "walking science experiment"?😔♥️ You're super smart & a beautiful soul, to boot. (Whether you need time-out from BL, or not, I hope you are aware of that).♥️

That's just my dark sense of humor which thrives within me. I'm prone to self deprecating humor, that's just my personality. It helps me cope in a way. I can laugh about everything, even the darkest personal matters.

I'm actually quite light hearted about everything considering the circumstances, always have been. I am certainly overly self critical sometimes, but there is still love for myself, and life in general, within me. There always will be.

thank you <3

but yeah, I am learning a lot about my serotonin system and schizophrenia by extension :)

I feel great right now, levels have stabilized for the moment
