Miscellaneous Microdosing possibly overplayed, not as effective as macrodosing, or at all

When you're just playing around it's ok to microdose. If you got stuff to do. Otherwise, you might as well go for a euphoric dose. Get to my feel good drug. Heroic doses I never quite understood. Unless it's by accident.

I've long suspected this.

Personally my experience with micro dosing is:
1. took too little, no effect
2. took too much now I'm slightly tripping

I never really enjoyed it myself and always scoffed at microdosing as it might fuck with my tolerance on my trip next weekend

then again if it really did have noticeable benefits I wouldn't doubt that either, I'm slightly biased

maybe it's my schizo? last time I took 100mg of ground home grown shrooms it was too much and I felt like I was tripping... yet that was also about a month before my schizophrenic break... so not sure? tainted results

yea i question it but maybe it does work for some ppl? but most ppl microdose for depression right? im not depressed so that's why i can't say anything one way or another, but if they feel better, then it can't be wrong....i just don't know to be honest

but i would think a more moderate dose less often would work better IME

I suspect that true microdosing (i.e. you don't feel anything) is probably about as effective (or ineffective) as other antidepressants that change the neuro-chemical environment. I read an interesting piece a while back which examined the mystery around why SSRI's work at all. It was originally thought that they worked because increasing serotonin was somehow making up for a lack of it naturally occurring. Later this was totally debunked leaving a complete mystery as to why they work at all. Finally it looks like the increase in serotonin was a bit besides the point: It is the whatever change in the neuro-chemical environment that results in people being able to shake old patterns and handle situations in new ways. Similar to how you might act or think differently if you're on vacation in a different country (i.e. in a different physical environment). The same seems true of the changes offered by a microdose.

Originally I didn't like microdosing. Finally I got into a groove of "minidosing" on weekends (i.e. slightly above threshold effects). It has been mostly great so far, but I'm reserving judgement for the long term effects. If I didn't have kids/responsibilities, I would stick with regular doses, but for now the minidoses are satisfying my need. The minidoses can result in surprisingly powerful healing, for me at least.

I haven't really tried it myself other than the odd occasion munching on a single psilocybe cap, but have tried low dose (threshold LSD) on a daily basis for a while, which was nice but probably not the best idea.

I am not surprised perhaps first and foremost because whatever the hipsters embrace, we can safely discard.
I can't say that I can relate to much about the hipsters, but I'm suspicious about such a holier than thou attitude; and also about discarding everything about a group of persons because of their chosen fashion or style.

I really feel the same way. I think hipster culture is partly, but not wholly, to blame.

The other half is how it gets flooded into the advertisement market and written about over and over again.

The people doing microdoses and the people writing about it are usually NOT druggies and have no idea what they're talking about (just my opinion)

Seemed near identical to me
Yeah... the difference is so small I question if it's just placebo and/or me remembering LSD highs with rosey goggles. Or maybe I just became more used to the mind fuck of lysergamides over time.

Could be. Either way they are pretty damn close.

So lighting a joint and putiing it down and then only lighting it again said next day or two will be like microdosing weed? Like why?

But on the weed part, i roll and smoke till it's either finished or it's died on me three times, cause then i just know im stoned, especially 5 min later when you standing in front of the fridge for like 30 min and have no clue why you even there. Sorry busy smoking as I'm reading this.

But back to the topic, I personal have felt no personal gain from microdosing with Shrooms in any way. For me it was always and still is a balls to the wall mission. And after that i can say i feel shifted and more lifted for the time to come.

Despite what some may say out there, mostly micro-dosing pushers, there is not all that much solid research to back up claims made by microdosing proponents. It is all anecdotal at this point. "___ % of ____ stated that they "felt better" or "were more productive", or whatever are are the highly subjective reports given by people within some studies. There are no real metrics to employ yet, and the rigorous research design and analysis process has yet to be performed. Do people want it to work? Well, sure. Do I think there may be some benefits? Well, I sure think there could, but far more work needs to be done. But I think that people can be hasty and a bit irresponsible when it comes to agendas related to things like psychedelics. Almost like cult-like fixation on focusing solely on the "good" and ignoring all else. Fadiman will extoll the virtues of M dosing but then again, he has been a big part of the push to mainstream the idea. Even Nick Sands said, to paraphrase, "Despite what you may have heard, there is not nearly enough evidence that microdosing is effective", which was widely publicized. And while the jury is still out, I am sure many people are and will continue to MD even if there is more of a placebo effect than some would admit. I have done lots of psychedelics over time, and I indeed tried micro-dosing for a bit a while back, but for me personally it did not appear particularly beneficial. But to each his own, of course. Very interesting but I really think for everyone's benefit lots more legit work will help inform people more comprehensively.
