Gabapentin and Hydrocodone Taken Together

So now we’ve arrived at the section on using gabapentin and hydrocodone together. To provide you with the best answer, I’m going to quote a passage from what I believe to be the most reliable source on the internet…Drugs.com, which states there is “Moderate” interaction between gabapentin and hydrocodone.

Here is what this authority website states on the combination of gabapentin and hydrocodone:

“Using hydrocodone together with gabapentin may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. “
Gabapentin and hydrocodone are both central nervous system (CNS) depressants. Gabapentin and hydrocodone by themselves can both cause respiratory depression and used together, this results in synergy.

Gabapentin/hydrocodone synergy is when the combined effect is greater than the sum of the effects of these two CNS depressants.

gabapentin and hydrocodone

When you combine two CNS depressants, in this case, gabapentin and hydrocodone, this significantly increases the chances of respiratory depression and can ultimately lead to death from your body not breathing anymore.
However, it can be safe to use gabapentin and hydrocodone together.

Why?

Because your doctor can adjust your doses of medication and frequently monitor you to make sure your body does okay with the combination of gabapentin and hydrocodone.

Gabapentin and Hydrocodone – Final Thoughts

Now you’ve been educated on the combination of gabapentin and hydrocodone. Again, Drugs.com states that there is a “Moderate” interaction between these two drugs.

The website defines Moderate as:

“Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.”
However, the website also states “Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications.”

As long as you’re under the care of a competent doctor, using gabapentin and hydrocodone together can be totally safe. Always listen to your body and start off with low dosages then work your way up when combining gabapentin and hydrocodone.

If you have any comments or questions on using gabapentin and hydrocodone together, please post them in the comment box below. Take care, and be safe.

How To Use Gabapentin For Opiate Withdrawal

More and more people are starting to learn about the benefits of gabapentin for opiate withdrawal symptoms. Gabapentin (brand name Neurontin) is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analog that was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, pain relief, and neuropathic pain.

Gabapentin was initially synthesized to mimic the chemical structure of the neurotransmitter GABA. Gabapentin is effective in the treatment of social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. Results with human and rat brain Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy indicate that gabapentin increases GABA synthesis, probably by modulating, as it does in-vitro, the action of the GABA synthetic enzyme, glutamic acid decarboxylase and the glutamate synthesizing enzyme, branched-chain amino acid transaminase.

gabapentin for opiate withdrawal symptoms

Gabapentin is now one of the most common medications used on people with alcohol, crack, opiate and other addictions. The purpose of this article is to show you how gabapentin reduces the severity of withdrawal symptoms experienced by those physically dependent on opioid analgesics such as heroin, morphine, and Methadone. I will do this by explaining the abstract and results from two important studies on gabapentin for opiate withdrawal.

Gabapentin for Opiate Withdrawal Symptoms Study #1

Results: Pain severity during the most of detoxification duration was significantly lower in the gabapentin group compared with the placebo group. It is suggested that gabapentin may have an effective role in removing heroin withdrawal-related pain.

Gabapentin for Opiate Withdrawal Symptoms Study #2

Results: Gabapentin with a dose of 1600 mg/d was significantly superior to a dose of 900 mg/d in decreasing severity of coldness, diarrhea, dysphoria, yawning, and muscle tension.

It may not seem like a big deal, but with all the weird diseases cropping up, a more severe flu season underway, an influx of noroviruses, SARS, MERS and Coronaviruses, not to mention bioterrorism, we have more reason than ever to get as healthy as possible. This list assumes no one is still dragging on cancer sticks or sinking poisonous dope into their body. If you haven't kicked the habit, make it the Numero Uno priority. Your body can't fight in the disease wars if you arm it with only blanks!

As soon as you learn of a bio-chem attack (if you are not already doing so), limit your intake of food so your body can devote more of its energies to the immune system rather than digesting dinner. Eat more raw foods, vegetables and juices.

One of the best things you can do is load up on antioxidants. "C" is one of the best vitamins to take. Store plenty of the natural variety with rosehips and bioflavinoids. Some recommendations suggest as much as 1000 mg. of C every two hours which requires fruit or juice intake so it doesn't make you sick.

Antioxidants Vitamin E and B6 have reputations for boosting the immune system as does Vitamin A which helps ward off infections to the eyes, respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract.

For coronavirus immune boosting, the CDC recommends adding sublingual Folate and D3. Stan bought ours at Amazon though it's probably available at most health food stores. Many grocery stores carry these vitamins though not nessarily the under-the-tongue variety.

Eat organic foods as much as possible. No one needs pesticides in his system.

Remove the "white" foods from the diet: white rice, white flour products and white (refined) sugar. Two cans of soft drink can approximately 24 tsps of sugar - enough to suppress the immune system for five hours. If you're grazing all day on pop and sweets, what ammo does you body have to fight disease?

People who are in tiptop shape - those who are physically active and have not subsisted on junk food will have the best chance of fighting these poisons naturally. It's never too late to exercise! Not only does exercise rev up the immune system, it relieves stress - something that makes us more susceptible to disease.

Give your body plenty of rest and water. Burning the candle at both ends depletes the body of disease-fighting capabilities.

I think dependence an addiction are clearly the same thing.
I have to disagree, but maybe I getting the terms wrong;
My buddy is depent on his Effexor, but he wouldn't suck a dick or rob a liqour-store for the next pill.
Another friend was addicted to heroin. She hit up a local tobacco-store with a big ol' knife to get cash for her fix.
And she would definately have gobbled dicks for the next fix had she not had the stones to carry out a stick-up.

How long does it take to get over opioid addiction?
The odds you'll still be on opioids a year after starting a short course increase after only five days on opioids. A number of additional factors — genetic, psychological and environmental — play a role in addiction, which can happen quickly or after many years of opioid use.

^^^^ what does that even mean ??
is that a typo maybe ?

oh shit i can't go five days without anything anymore. wow !

How do doctors define drug addiction?
Doctors define drug addiction as an irresistible craving for a drug, out-of-control and compulsive use of the drug, and continued use of the drug despite repeated, harmful consequences. Opioids are highly addictive, in large part because they activate powerful reward centers in your brain.

NOPE. NOT ADDICTED.

i need some bad medicine right now
so that i can feel good.

i don't care if i have to be alive in a few years.

just one more day.
or until i decide to quit again.

anyway there isn't anything wrong with my medicine. it is just the way that the world is made to be that way.

i made it through the day. now everything
will be just great.

Passion for death is healthy; it is part of the death drive (desire for war, homicide, suicide) and the sex/life drive (love, fucking, reproducing, "family") that we are instinctually drawn to.

The natural conclusion even if you don't want to die, at the end of life, is death, hence why embracing and loving it is like not a bad thing.

Imagine you're a kid in the back seat on their way to get a flu shot.

Are you going to scream and cry and deliberately pretend the needle hurt more than it really did, or are you going to sit back, stay quiet, and enjoy the lollipop?

There are a few different Opioid Receptors. Mu, Delta, Kappa to name a few. They are each pretty segregated in terms of what they regulate. While people have clear and demonstrable differences in their overall response to drugs, I would say it's less common for someone to experience "all" of this effect and not the others. Does that make sense? I know people who are immune to Morphine, people who are ultra-rapid-metabolizers who demethylate Codeine to Morphine much faster than others and different cases in between.

Generally, if people experience some of the effects, they will end up experiencing most of the others, but everybody is different and anything is possible when dealing with genetic disposition. 🖤 👽

Holy shit it's going to be lame.
I'm doing better, this is an uphill struggle I'm going through it.
There's the saying in bible which describes drug addiction perfectly. It goes something like this, I couldn't find the original.
"To the bad path the gates are wide open, but the corridor gets tighter and tighter as you walk this path.
In the virtuous path gates are tight and it's hard to get through, but the more you walk the path the wider the corridor gets"
This is super true and I always try to remember that quote in withdrawals..
I may have lost a battle every now and then, but I'll win the war.
Done 2mg alpro and drank 1 long drink this morning, I'm opening another one now, smoking a cigarette and I'll listen to an amazing song. I did 0.5mg bupe this morning, sadly. It's minimal dose, so it really doesn't matter that much in real world but I feel bad for it.

Really guys, tell me how you're doing?

Magnesium, nature's calcium channel blocker

Magnesium can be calming and reduce anxiety, like a calcium channel blocker.

Our diets often don't supply us with enough magnesium, which is important for nervous system health and autonomic regulation, as well as just about every operation in the body.

Don't overdo taking magnesium -- too much will give you diarrhea. Start with 25mg. (I was never able to take more than 50mg-75mg at a time, but others can take much more.) To start, you will want to get 100mg tablets you can cut up or 100mg capsules you can open, so you can try a lower dose and gradually increase if you wish.

Drug stores most often carry magnesium carbonate, but magnesium citrate is a type that's gentler on your stomach and absorbs well.

I found if I dissolved magnesium citrate in ice water and sipped it, this reduced withdrawal anxiety quite a bit.

Some people think magnesium glycinate, a chelate, has even better absorption, is easier on the gut, and has other health benefits.

Albion process magnesium glycinate chelate is a good-quality magnesium supplement. These products are carried by Bluebonnet, Designs for Health, Life Zone, Metagenics, Olymp Laboratories (Poland), Optimal Nutrients, Solgar, Swanson, Trophic (Canada), and other brands.

Doctor's Best also offers a high-quality chelated magnesium glycinate.

Some people get magnesium by taking hot baths in Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate), See Epsom salts baths -- another way to relax with magnesium

Others rub on magnesium oil. It's not really an oil; under high pressure, magnesium is dissolved in water. The magnesium is absorbed through the skin. This is a another way of taking magnesium. Some find it gentler than taking magnesium by mouth.

Another option is homemade magnesium bicarbonate water, see Instructions For Making Homemade Magnesium Water

If you take too much magnesium, you will know because you'll get stomach cramps or diarrhea. Reduce the amount you're taking if these things occur.

NOTE: Magnesium is more effective taken in divided doses throughout the day. There's no need to take one large daily dose, you'll absorb it poorly. You might find you can take 50mg or 100mg magnesium 4 times a day or so and it will help you relax. Build up slowly.

What does bioactive mean?

The medical definition of bioactive is “having an effect upon a living organism, tissue, or cell. Biologically active.” Antibiotic, enzymes, antioxidants, and vitamins are all bioactive substances.

Outside the medical community, a bioactive substance is often defined more narrowly, limiting it to compounds derived from plants.

Thank you for all you wonderful information!! You are a very kind and Helpful member her.
I can not seem to totally shake my Norcos 10/325 ?? I get taper then jump off, take a few THC/CBD gummies, and Gabipentin .I can go about a week. I feel better, dont sleep too well, but manageable. Then I over do it at work ( need to support family), and have chronic pain from radiation & Chemo, and I take between 1 and 4 during the day.
I have been afraid of a Dependence to Gabipentin??
I have a script for my Norcos, and dr monitoring ( he is much less concerned than I am on my opiate use Lol Lol

You are doing so very fine and wonderful. The important thing is that you are aware and making an effort as opposed to not understanding and trying to learn.

With all of your knowledge and efforts to learning and understanding you should be able to stay as safe and healthy as possible.

I am so very proud of you to progress and learn to be a better self.

You are so concerned and compassionate to want the best for yourself as I am also for you.
I can understand your heart and I just am getting tears really bad from this right now !!

With Love to @Iceman1216 .

" I guess it depends on if you I guess it depends on if you were totally done with the withdrawal or not. It could or it might not, kinda more up to how much you use and how high your tolerance is, etc. totally done with the withdrawal or not. It could or it might not, kinda more up to how much you use and how high your tolerance is, etc. "

I am trying to find this out??
so I have had a slow progression of my opiate use. I have never used my presided dose ( well 10 years ago when they where first prescribed to me with "USE AS NEEDED" on the label no more than 8-10 Norcos/day!! Well that did not go well!! I had been clean and sober for over 22 years, and with enough opiate in my system , Stoli Looked like a really good idea :-(
almost lost everything , including my life ( I drove for over 4 hours ,45 miles at night in a blackout, woke up in my driveway, bloody, Puke, and completely disorientated { my wife of 15 years who married me sober, was not thrilled!!
I can not seem to stay off?? I taper down to 5-10 mgs of Hydrocodone per day, then go the 5-6 days of none, feel better, then as the chronic pain starts to fester, I take one , again, and again and again??? I went to rehab after that last episode, and for the grace of my HP and the fellowship of the rooms of AA , I have not had a drink in 11 years. But I have been slowly taking Norcos 10/325, and now last few years daily ?? I wish I had an easy answer to all this??
Thanks
