Long time lurker here. Usually I'm happy just reading information and when I have a question, look it up elsewhere. I recently decided that it might be handy to become a member, since this is one of the top sources I reference whenever I start researching any given topic for SWIM.
Short biography...
SWIM discovered drugs relatively late in life (his 20's). He pretty much experimented everything he could get his hands on. His favorites were always cannabis, tryptamines, and occasionally MDMA and dissociatives. Unfortunately his curiosity to "try everything" found him very quickly becoming an IV heroin addict, which lasted (on and off) for about a decade. SWIM decided to seek help from psychedelics, since, though other methods worked (and sometimes worked well), he could never seem to get them to stick in the long-term. So he detoxed himself from opiates using DXM, and followed that up with occasional doses of 1P-LSD, and has managed to stay "sober" ("sober" = from drugs like meth, cocaine/crack, and opiates) about two years now. SWIM can even drink alcohol and smoke cannabis in moderation with no desire whatsoever to go back to the substances that ruined his life or use any substance to excess. Even his severe depression has left him. Honestly, he considers it a miracle to have his life back, and his brain reset.
The remarkable results gained from this self-medication/experiment reminded SWIM that drugs can do good for people, so long as they are treated with respect and used responsibly. He was well aware of the dangers of what he was doing before, but he fell victim to the cockiness of youth. Hopefully, now armed with wisdom that comes with age, he can focus on things that can make his life, and the lives of those around him, better. Nowadays, SWIM is all about the psychedelics, nootropics, and SARMs. He already knows quite a bit about the "classic" psychedelics, but has been reading up on analogues that have been discovered due to them being much easier to obtain. So far it has only been 1P-LSD, but he's looking forward to expanding his experimentation to the aforementioned categories.
Hopefully, using all of the researching I've done in the past, and am doing right now, I can give back to the community here instead of just lurking and taking. Since SWIM is bound and determined to be his own guinea pig/lab rat, he figured he might as well put his data out for others as well.
Finally, I'd like to give a big thank you to the Bluelight community and the administrators/moderators who keep it alive for helping my friend for so many years. Had it not been for this board, and the people who frequent it, he may not have survived that decade as a junkie, or ended up with HIV and/or other diseases/health problems. I'm sure his isn't the only life that has been saved because of this community. THANK YOU for that!
Sincerely,
