Methadone for heroin am i trading one addiction for another? Should i be worried

I've had guys text me years after the fact saying 'don't suppose in you're interested in some morphine etc' - gotta change your number if you want to move on.
 
I'm 32.

I don't wanna deal with PAWS, I don't wanna deal with depression.

And it's been difficult enough to stay away from heroin even with methadone so I don't see myself sustaining it long term clean.

I had a relapse on heroin this year, if I hadn't been on methadone I'd have zero doubt it'd have been many times worse off.

At least on methadone my relapse hasn't gotten totally out of control again.

If u don’t want to deal with things then methadone is perfect. It eventually numbs ur emotions.

I'm not erratic or emotional, I'm passionate and driven. :D

EDIT: also think about me on ceps, if that's methadone taking zombie Jess. Imagine what a clean Jess would be like.

I've been on either heroin or methadone for all of the past 8 years so in a sense none of you know clean me. I don't think I even remember clean me. :D

at least your being honest and not snobbish like a lot of drug addicts these days especially olderspeople

I take it you have had some trouble with opiates to mate? If you don't mind me asking and sorry maybe I was a bit defensive I just don't really care for drama these days all the members I have beef with such as zb are On my blacklist

Yes mate I had a problem with opiates. And other drugs,

crack is one drug I have managed to stay away from mainly because I know it would be heroin all over again and I sort of hate the drug for personal reason I'm n what I seen it do to people are you off the wagon now?

Clean for Few years now. Done 18 years on though so that was enough lol
 
If you plan to quit for good then id say yeah it's worth it but ive noticed if i start using herion and missing doses it takes days to get stable again

Depends on how long you use heroin for.

In my experience I can use heroin for at least a day, skipping that days methadone, and have no problem.

I might have a slight tinge of withdrawal right before my next dose for the first day afterwards, but that's it.

I wouldn't wanna be skipping several days of methadone though, methadone lasts a long time in your body so if you skip it several days it'll take a few days to build back up again.

So even if you had heroin for days and had no withdrawal, when you start methadone again, the heroin will wear off much faster than the methadone will build up, resulting in a much lower than normal amount of opioid activity in your body, and thus withdrawal. Most likely in the form of methadone seeming to not last you the whole day.
 
Yeah if you miss a dose you won't feel right no matter how much dope you use. You still feel off.

Best not to miss a dose. Then you be clucking and buying overpriced drugs.

That seems a little dubious to me (assuming I understand what you're saying).

I mean, I haven't tried switching to heroin outright from my current dose of 80mg,but I have done it from 30mg,and I have used heroin instead of my 80mg dose for a day without an issue.

I dunno, I just can't see why you'd have an issue switching from methadone to heroin.

I CAN absolutely see why you'd have an issue switching to heroin for a few days and then trying to switch back to just methadone.

But I'm not sure I know what it is you're trying to say. And regardless habits and tolerances can behave strangely so I hate making absolute claims.
 
You would be fine missing a single days methadone dose and taking heroin instead because of the long half life of methadone.
it’s just a really bad idea to start doing thst though.
I’m not suggest your as dumb as me but I used heroin and methadone every single day for many years. It’s so hard to stop thst

everyone is different though.
 
Right missing 1 day is fine. You wouldn't even have bad withdrawals without using heroin. Takes methadone a good 3-4 days to start to kick in the withdrawal.

But jumping off 80mg, especially after dosing for years....you are going to see a whole new level of dependence and all the dope in the world won't keep you right for the 1st few weeks.

Some of the worst withdrawals ever were jumping right off the clinic and going back to dope. Takes a few weeks. In the meantime you can blow through $100's a day in dope and still will be feeling like shit. Depends on the dope too I guess. Some strong fent dope and likely to cross back over to dope easier.

Not something I recommend doing of course. Stay on the methadone. Jumping off the clinic and back onto dope was always a huge mistake and always landed back at the clinic.

I dunno. I'm not about to test it but I'm skeptical. When I relapsed and used heroin again after being on methadone 2 years I found my heroin tolerance had actually gone down.

Not enormously, but certainly noticeably.

I actually wonder if this is another of the many oddities of drugs where it seems to depend on the person. I've just found over and over different people experiencing seemingly the same drugs and same patterns very differently.

Hell I've found how hard my methadone hits can seem to vary considerably for no clear reason.

Drugs and biology and metabolism just seem weird like this.

EDIT: Also my experience is you do NOT have 3 or 4 days before withdrawal starts on methadone. In my experience I have at most 48 hours from my last dose. Probably more like 40. And withdrawal starts quite noticeably.

It can be a little hard to determine cause in my experience unlike heroin where you tend to generally either be either sick, or not sick. Methadone withdrawal starts very gradually. Also I've noticed the symptoms can start in different orders than on heroin. On heroin for instance I'd always get runny nose watery eyes etc before restless leg shit. On methadone it can happen the other way around and comes on a lot more gradually.
