It's all about perspective. While it's true gays can stay 'in the closet' to some extent (at the price of having a life of any meaning or meaningful relationships), homophobia knows no race. Gays have been hated/killed/prejudiced against everywhere amongst all peoples and races, and may never feel at peace or safe because they are never in the majority and always the easily targeted minority. The same is not true for blacks.
Black people are still targeted, hated and killed just for showing their face. It's even worst now with that idiot in office. Now the racial slurs, violence and hatred is even more out in the open because they feel entitled.
All a black person has to do is show their face and they are immediately hated by a majority of people. They don't have a choice to not reveal who they are. They can't just be at peace and move into any community or have certain jobs without being fucked with.
Gay people (mainly white, gay people) can still walk around and fit in if they choose. Black people do not have that option whatsoever.
It is not the same as what black people are still going through and still fighting for. Gay people weren't slaves, c'mon. I respect your opinion though. I'm a huge supporter of gay people and their rights. I just can't stand the comparison.
...and I'm sorry to go off topic.
