PERU, Ind. (WTHR) - Officers from nine agencies in north central Indiana made a major drug bust, including ecstasy pills made to look like President Donald Trump.
Indiana State Police said the officers conducted saturation patrols on U.S. 31 in Miami and Fulton counties recently. The goal of "Operation Blue Anvil" was to enforce traffic laws and catch those motorists who were transporting illegal narcotics through the state.
Over six days in the past two weeks, police made 129 arrests on nearly 300 criminal charges. During the operation, officers seized drugs including cocaine, heroin, LSD, methamphetamine, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana edibles, MDMA, prescription drugs and more drugs that they have yet to identify.
Among the drugs were orange ecstasy pills shaped to look like the president, with the words "GREAT AGAIN" stamped on the back.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Dan Prus said it was the eighth year of the patrols, timed to match with peak summer travel time.
"Police officers want the patrols to serve as a reminder to drivers to follow all traffic laws for the safety of everyone utilizing Indiana?s roads. The patrols should also serve as a warning that police officers will utilize all of the resources at their disposal to catch and arrest the few who transport illegal drugs," Prus said.
Officers from the Miami County Sheriff?s Department, the Logansport Police Department, the Peru Police Department, the Fulton County Sheriff?s Department, the Cass County Sheriff?s Department, the Wabash County Sheriff?s Department, the Grant County Sheriff?s Department and the Rochester Police Department assisted state police in the operation.

US: 13 pounds of fentanyl worth $2M seized in Wilmington drug bust, officials say
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Gang Task Force arrested three men and seized over $2 million worth of the deadly opioid fentanyl during a raid at a Wilmington home earlier this week.
"As far as we can tell, this is one of the largest seizures in the state," said New Hanover County Sheriff Ed McMahon.
Nearly 13 pounds of fentanyl with an estimated street value of over $2 million was found inside a home in the 1400 block of Kornegay Avenue in the Creekwood North community.
Marijuana, heroin, and drug paraphernalia was also found in the home.
According to sheriff's office officials, detectives received tips that heroin was being sold at a home.
During the next several months, undercover detectives made several controlled purchases of the heroin from the home and on Wednesday executed a search warrant at the residence.
Authorities said the mixture of fentanyl seized could produce hundreds of thousands of bags for sale.
"What we seem to be finding is the dealers are putting more of the fentanyl and less of the heroin and we believe that's one of the main reasons we're having people overdosing and dying on this stuff," McMahon said.
Three people were taken into custody during the raid.
Wednesday's bust is easily the largest fentanyl seizure in New Hanover County history. Earlier this year, the sheriff's office confiscated 3.3 pounds of the opioid from a home on Flint Drive in Wilmington. That raid was the previous record.

My comment was based on an article i read on an accidental death of a student pharmacist in 2014. There the autopsy report determined that he died from fentanyl toxicity, presumably from percutaneous absorption of the drug while handling it (https://www.aspl.org/assets/home-page/2014_News_Articles/news_june27_2014.pdf).
Even if its a myth, for the police its a thruth. Take a look at the DEA guidelines (https://www.dea.gov/druginfo/Fentanyl_BriefingGuideforFirstResponders_June2017.pdf).

It might not kill by immediate contact but i thought transdermal fent had a pretty good bioavailability. If someone didn't know they got a potent fent analogue on their skin and it had enough time to absorb would it not cause an OD? These journalists are probably blowing it out of proportion but it's possible, maybe not likely but possible.

DRI inter-state drug bust: Two ?masterminds? on the run from law in UK and Canada
Two of the alleged masterminds arrested when the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) recently busted a multi-state drug syndicate that has illegally supplied over 2000 kg of Ketamine, or date rape drug, to international and domestic buyers are said to be on the run from law enforcement authorities in the UK and Canada, sources told The Indian Express.
According to Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials, British national Jonathan Thorn has been convicted 21 times in the UK in various drug cases, while Vietnamese-origin Canadian citizen Ngyenmanh Coung, convicted for murder in Canada, has jumped parole and has been living in India for the last few years.
Last month, DRI raided four factories in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat and seized about 308 kg of Ketamine worth Rs 30 crore and raw materials that could have resulted in another 250 kg of the drug worth about Rs 25 crore. The latest seizure of Ketamine is 720 per cent more than the overall seizure of 68 kg in calendar year 2016. DRI, sources said, has informed Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on the arrests of the foreign nationals and is now planning to send its team to the UK and Canada to gather more information from law enforcement agencies.
Sources said Cuong was granted parole by a Canadian law enforcement agency to visit Vietnam after serving eight years in prison, but he jumped parole and came to India. Coung , said DRI sources, is a chemist who was in-charge of quality supervision of Ketamine that was being produced in factories in Goa.
Apart from this, DRI sources said Thorn and another arrested accused Barry John, also a British national, have allegedly also violated Indian passport norms. Both of them ?fraudulently? obtained overseas citizen of India card, which allows entry and exit from India without any visa. The agency has also found that a Gujarat-based firm Yami Enterprises was allegedly used to export Ketamine overseas. Yami is in the business of exporting Bentonite powder. This syndicate is believed to have supplied Ketamine to international drug traffickers in the UK, Canada, Sri Lanka, Congo, Mozambique, Malaysia, Swaziland, Nepal, Australia, Vietnam and Kenya, said a DRI official.
According to sources, the syndicate had a well-established chain of supply. The payment for the raw material and finished products allegedly took place through hawala. The agency has so far arrested 12 people from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Madhya Pradesh in connection with the illegal manufacture and supply of Ketamine in Indian and abroad. ?The syndicate has exported Ketamine chemically composed up to 90 per cent. Such a product usually does not show properties of Ketamine when tested and can bypass supervision,? said a source.
DRI, sources said, has seized about 226 kg of Ketamine from Jaivijay Industries in Rasayani in Maharashtra, 30 kg from Bliss Chem in Baroda and 52 kg from two factories in Goa, including Vijay Industries.
The Rasayani factory was the main manufacturing unit where Ketamine was chemically composed up to 90 per cent and was later transferred to the factories in Goa and Baroda for processing it into Ketamine.
