I watched the first couple seasons of the walking dead, but it got boring. A lot of the same drama over and over.

I won't knock people who like it though. It seems well made and there were some good plot lines. It just isn't my cup of tea.

The first few seasons were Okay but unfortunately it means investing into some of the not so great seasons hoping the ship will right itself..

I don't mind superheroes so much, im more of a horror type guy, no zombies though.

Been watching a bit of the wire today, reminds me of North st Louis lol.

Agreed. I could never get into the super hero movies. I think some of them were worth a watch, but they can be a little too dopey IMO.

We need some good new sci-fi movies. Disney is fucking up Star Wars. It also doesn't seem like there have been many good psychological thrillers lately.
 
Some superhero movies are alright, but I don't think some of the nore minor characters need their own franchise, and the endless sequels just seem lame to me. To each their own, I suppose. Horror js very hit or miss for me, some I love, many I don't ever see. Just depends on what we're talking about.

The Wire is great, and a pretty accurate portrayal of the guys it was based on, and Baltimore at that time in general, from qhat I've been told.

Edit: Hell yeah, Mobius, agreed all around. I want a UBIK movie, and surprised there hasn't been one considering how much Philip K. Dick output has been adapted. And yes, a dark, gritty slow burn thriller with some actual weight to the events would be sweeeeet.
 
Movies have kinda gone to hell last few years imo.

I like the older style horror with nuances and a story ya know, not some guy gutting people, no real draw there.

An old buddy i hardly talk to anymore suggested it a while back, can't believe I've never watched it before.

Side note: Although I've seen tons of movies, I've never considered myself a film buff, but do love forums, so I learned a good bit by posting on the Rotten Tomatoes Off topic board for over a decade, had over 30K posts there, but they nuked the forums without warning a while back...
 
I used to live with a guy that considers himself a big film buff, but is the furthest thing from it. He believes that what's shown at the small film fest he attends annually and the Oscar nominees must be hands down the best in a given year. He doesn't really seek out any other movies, doesn't go back and watch the classics, etc. Tip of the iceberg with that guy, though.

Oh, and a friend of mine recently applied for and scored a contract to design t-shirts for Rifftrax, the guys formerly known as Mystery Science Theater 3000. She said it's open ended, and apparently going to net her a nice wad of dough. Really happy for her.
 
I'm not a film buff, but I like movies that I can watch multiple times while picking up new things and new appreciation for the writing. It seems like new movies are more concerned about being glitzy and graphically appealing than telling a good story. I think comparing the Lucas Star Wars movies to the newest Disney movies is a great example. The Lucas films had questionable effects and acting, but an incredibly rich story. The newest film looked beautiful, but the story (at least IMO) was superficial, it had plot holes, and some of it basically broke the Star Wars universe that George Lucas created.
