Whilst everything you said is true, it is also worth remembering that higher doses are certainly more in the realm of straight up drug than nootropic, although not particularly enjoyable. The first time I took it I took a pretty high dose (1g~?), because I wanted to know for certain that it worked. It was kind of like a dirty GHB/GBL type high. I really didn't enjoy it, though I could imagine some people would.
At nootropic doses it makes me very horny, confident and chatty. Benzos do that to me (minus the horny part), but with phenibut you retain your cognitive ability, and probably exceed it, without all the blacking out/acting weird/etc.
This settles it, I'm getting more this week. Been putting it off for ages.
Ditto about the horniness. Weird that <2g seems ideal for you guys. I took 2g yesterday and by the peak I felt like I was on a low dose of MDxx (maybe 80mg equivalent?) without the headspace; so not as good as MDxx overall but my body felt fucking fantastic: warmth, comfort, light tactile enhancement, and a weak amphetamine-like energy buzz. I did space the doses out, though: 1g at around 8:30 and the second around 15:30, so maybe not taking them together kept it from feeling as shitty? I do think the 1g dose I took the day before was perfect for tackling stressful social situations (like the impromptu speech I was asked to give in front of a dozen near-strangers 8() and 500mg would be good for that subtle great-day feeling. My wife, being more sensitive to just about everything, tried 500mg last night and had the chatty, mood-lifting effects--which took me a gram to get to--for a while before drifting into mellowness and sedation, so definitely test the lower ranges first.
Anyways, I'm off it for a few days now after my little experiments. Does anyone else notice the effects carrying over to the next day? I felt super comfy and sleepy after jerkin' the gherkin before bed last night, slept pretty well (until the cat woke me up), and now 20 hours after my last dose I'm still feeling some residual positivity and increased tactile sensitivity. I should mention I've been taking piracetam in attack doses with it every day (tapering down each day), but I don't know how much relation that would have to phenibut's activity.
Unfortunately it's a case of a few people spoiling it for everybody else. Once a rule is in place it's pretty hard to ask anybody to make exceptions or change it, no matter how rationally you can explain your case. Story of the planet I guess...
My dad does a lot of work for a land lady and she absolutely refuses to let people keep pets because of bad experiences in the past. My dad had to replace a living room carpet recently because somebody had kept a dog in there against their contract and it had shit on the carpet, leaving a big stain.
Obviously a guinea pig dropping isn't going to ruin a flat, but the point being, people are rigid.
Rigid and illogical. Like you said, what is a guinea pig going to do? I'm trying to picture someone coming home to the worst kind of damage a cat or dog could cause--destroyed furniture, feces everywhere, unrolled toilet paper strewn throughout the house--only with a guinea pig chillin' in the middle, wriggling its nose the way they do... The image is just so silly I can't fathom how anyone would actually be concerned about that sort of thing. Some places won't even let you keep a turtle. Seriously, wtf? 8)
I hope you find a good place, CG?! My wife and I will have to shop for pet-friendly living options in a couple years. I'm not looking forward to the hike in rent. (We're pretty sure our current place doesn't actually allow pets, even though we didn't see anything about it in our contract. The person who lived in the apartment before us had a cat but from what we understand she was pretty secretive about it, so we followed her example and just...didn't tell anybody when we got our cat >>. Heh.)
