2017 Trump Presidency Thread

I don't think it's a testament to Trump's abilities (few of which he actually has 8) have you heard the man speak? My 7 year old nephew uses better grammar and completes more sentences...) but rather a testament to the ignorance, naivety, and low intellect of the broader population.

^^It's common knowledge.
Apparently the weed isn't all that great either. That must suck.
That could not be further from the truth. Nth NSW outdoor organic sativa when from the right genetics is as good as any weed grown anywhere. I have mailed weed (many years ago) to Bubbleman the creator of bubblebags, Breeder Steve a well known Canadian breeder responsible for Sweettooth and other strains. Shantibaba who was in charge of Greenhouse seeds breeding program before he left to start Mr Nice seeds with Howard Marks. They all loved it. Extremely potent, clear uplifting sativa that tasted like mango and had an average yield of over 4lbs of manicured heads. So on that point you are wrong.

Well, yeah - that's true, but he (and more importantly his team) exploited that expertly...

Not wishing to go too far off topic, but i'm not sure where you heard that? There's plenty of good weed in Australia, and there has been for a long time.

I will address this, but first I hope the rest of the statement was not in any way directed to what you think I believe.

The proposed health care bill from Congress (both versions) is an atrocity. The most shocking part to me is that some Senators aren't voting for it because it isn't conservative enough.

I am disgusted by the current state of the health care system, much less this proposed legislation.

And Trump is by far the least qualified individual and utterly unfit president in modern history.
------------------
I heard from 5 pothead :) American friends of mine (2 couples and a single) who had moved fairly recently to Australia for two years or more that the weed there was not comparable to the US, with varying degrees of criticism, from mild to not mild. They all enjoyed Australia a lot overall tbc.

They did come from states that historically have had really good weed predating medical legalization and are now more spoiled with legal or medical legalization.

Please see my bold quote to you and swilow just below.

Hands up here as a smoker of fucking awesome sweet Aussie weed.

swilow and SJ, I have been schooled. :) If I get over to Australia I will go with an open mind and form my own opinion! I hope (maybe after Trump!) that you visit and do the same ;) if you haven't already. It's really evolving.

Anyway, trump, fuck him...;)

Yep.
I just hope people understand that many Americans vehemently oppose Trump and the Republican legislative agenda.

Trump winning, which was stomach turning, was also part of larger sinking feeling that vehement racism, sexism, anti-LGBT sentiments and oppression of certain religions groups won. It was a very disheartening victory for intolerance.

^ yeah, i know a lot of americans who are absolutely horrified by trump (including - especially - family members that live in the US).

It's really disturbing on so many levels. Horrifying how quickly a country's political situation can deteriorate into some scary shit.

Things are pretty dire over here too, politically. But i feel for you guys - i mean, i'm bothered by trump and everything he represents, but i'm not directly affected (...yet?)
I feel for people that are dismayed about the whole situation though.
It's fucked up that such a revolting person can become president. :(

Are there any Trump supporters in this thread or is it actually just a bash Trump thread?

You're certainly welcome to speak up for the voiceless.

BUT HER EMAILLS!!!!!

Bill was worse!

BENGHAZZIIII!!!! PIZZAGATE!

They sure as fuck didn't shut up before the election.

if you have some positive thoughts on his actions or the things he's saying, why not post them?

there is a lot of criticism in this thread but most of it seems civil and constructive to me - i think it's lazy to just characterise this thread as trump-bashing. not a little ironic given the president's seeming inability to accept any criticism whatsoever...

alasdair

Globally, I think Trump is absorbing so much media time, I think politicians are all struggling to be heard even in their own country.

What do you think Abbott is doing? I think he's either aiming for Turnbulls job (again) or is about to break away into some Trumpesque populist party of his own.

WRONG!!!

Heh, that shit cracks me up when he does it. Then I feel sad because people eat it up and do not find it comical, as I do :\

SAD! ;)

Re: Trump-bashing
Yes we have some levity in this thread, but laughter is necessary for some of us with Trump and the Republican Congress currently in place; I think it's important to separate the two. :\

Precisely.

I think the criticism must go on as this is the president of the US is making life of a lot harder for so many people and that's sad. People with health care issues, people living in other countries affected by his lies and lack of knowledge. I still can't figure out how a country like the US, that I have lived and called home for so long and visited so often has elected such an irresponsible and egocentric person who plays with war and words like a child. When is this going to be over, I wonder...

Well, in the interest of "balance" we should have a contest to find one positive thing we could post, about the guy or his job so far.

• He has been completely ineffective at motivating or uniting the factions in Congress in the Republican Party, who are pro-1%ers at the expense of the 99%.

• His administration has produced no significant legislation.

• He will not run again for president because it's harder than he thought it would be. (Incumbency gives a strong advantage when running.)

That's 3.

^ I really hope so. I hope he isn't running for a second term.

There must be something I just can't see right now. Even though we sometimes find good personal things about public characters I believe I'm a bit stuck with Trump though.

I remember that right after the inauguration day he stopped tweeting for about 10 or 15 hours, everyone started to wonder if the Trump we knew was gone and now that he was the president he would probably start measuring his words. But right after we all watched the discussion about crowd sizes, and it didn't stop yet. :\

"I don't know why you'd think this is a Trump-bash thread" *inserts snide Trump bash* lolol I see what you did there...

OK so this thread is just a Trump-bash.

Trump repealed the TPP.
Trump is going after human trafficking.
Trump is investigating electoral fraud therefore strengthening electoral integrity and will restore faith in the electoral process.
Trump is doing the opposite of what politicians normally do - working hard to actually fulfill his campaign promises.

Also, why are people being dismissive of Hillary's email violations of the Espionage Act and her collusion with the Russian state? She consciously put Special Access Program intelligence on an unsecured private server for 3 months, literally giving classified information to foreign adversary hackers. She was then "absolved" thanks to obstruction of justice as Loretta Lynch met on the tarmac with Bill during an actual investigations (we have evidence of crimes). Comey then stated that there was "no intent" (which was an obvious lie and intent is irrelevant when mishandling classified intel), and we were then led to believe that Clinton was the "most qualified presidential candidate ever" even though Comey said she was so incompetent that she did not know how to handle classified information as Secretary of State. "No reasonable prosecutor would prosecute this case" - yes well Lynch told Comey to refer to the investigation as "matter". You want evidence of obstruction of justice?

Talk about hypocrisy.

Trump repealed the TPP.

Ok, tell us why you think that's good.

Trump is going after human trafficking.
I think he just watched the Taken movies. Do you have specifics to your "going after"?

Trump is investigating electoral fraud therefore strengthening electoral integrity and will restore faith in the electoral process.
How is he investigating "electoral fraud?" Going to California to count all the illegal Mexican voters he says was the reason Clinton defeated him? Sorry for the tone, but this sounds copypasta from whitehouse.gov or something.

Trump is doing the opposite of what politicians normally do - working hard to actually fulfill his campaign promises.
I can't tell if you're trying a Poe here or what. The guy's outta there by 2pm on Fridays. What promise has he fulfilled? Or OK, which is he "working hard" on?

Also, why are people being dismissive of Hillary's email violations
Because it's all utter bullshit political theater. Yeah, they need some overhaul and I don't like the idea of private servers for the State Dept.
But every politician grilling her actively avoids saving stuff on the public servers. Colin Powell, her predecessor, urged her to keep the private serverHE had installed in the residence.
So she kept an email address and used it. And a nation lost it's shit for a few months.

her collusion with the Russian state?
You talking about the totally above board uranium rights deal with a single Russian company, still? And you must have SOME sense of irony, right?

She consciously put Special Access Program intelligence on an unsecured private server for 3 months, literally giving classified information to foreign adversary hackers.
Can you please share with the class the moment she literally gave classified info to "foreign adversary" (see, it used to say "Russia" here, but that doesn't work so well any more).

She was then "absolved" thanks to obstruction of justice as Loretta Lynch met on the tarmac with Bill during an actual investigations (we have evidence of crimes).
It was improper of her to meet Bill. Can you at least hint at what these crimes are?

Comey then stated that there was "no intent" (which was an obvious lie and intent is irrelevant when mishandling classified intel),
How is it "obviously" a lie?

Comey said she was so incompetent that she did not know how to handle classified information as Secretary of State.
There we go, a quote from a person. Comey did say that!

"No reasonable prosecutor would prosecute this case" - yes well Lynch told Comey to refer to the investigation as "matter". You want evidence of obstruction of justice?
Yes I want evidence. The fuck does "matter" mean?

Talk about hypocrisy.
I'll talk about irony.
