Give 5 me good reasons why EADD social chat shouldn't migrate over to Social.

Apologies for the touchy comment but I really am just trying to get people's perspectives and feel like for the most part it's just been an insular clique replying to this thread...

Sourcing is one of the issues I think the regional forums suffer from and I'm simply pointing it out, I didn't accuse you or anyone specifically of doing it - I just don't understand why you think EADD's vibe isn't transferrable?

I know where your coming from and your reply below confirmed that - there are a lot of social threads in this section that could happily fit in 'social'. I certainly never suggest anyone check either social or gibbering for HR advice 8o. Over the years people become comfortable chatting with the regulars and are not as afraid of asking a quick one liner in Gibbering instead of asking for HR advice in the relevant sections. Also it is often quicker (not always) to see a pattern of problems starting in a regular chat than it would be if people started to fragment and post opiate problems in opiate section, SLR in SLR, relationship, violence etc.

I agree a lot of the social aspects of this section could be merged with 'Social' and if you check when social first opened I was posting what I would normally post here, in social and sticking to the gibbering thread to chat and keep upto date. I point new users towards 'Social' for social aspects and people joining from UK/Europe to EADD for questions and support as I feel the more people posting in social the better it becomes.

Now would posters in EADD want to post in the social threads (what you eating for example) or would they simply migrate all non drug talk to the one mega gibbering thread ? Going by a lot of the replies - it would be the mega gibbering thread.

I do think that Social is miles apart from what 'TL' had turned into and that is a credit to the staff and the people posting.
 
Very much a credit to the staff and members that wanted better of that sub.

Like like Bella says, there is nothing wrong with venturing outside eadd. I've really enjoyed myself in social tonight. Just dip a toe. You'll get to know people better in your own time. If you find out its not for you there's no big loss other than time but you might just gain more than you thought. Ya don't know if you don't try <3
 
There are some great threads and can be a bit busier than EADD when your bored and fancy a chat (or when your in different time zones etc).

Ha ha ha, no pressure hunnie and definitely no agenda. Each to their own. Personally, eadd is my home. That doesn't stop me getting to know other subs. No one has to. It's all choice and personal preference.
 
I'd never suggest and would strongly oppose changing eadd. That doesn't mean that one can't enjoy what other subs have to offer.

Please do not think there is any agenda to get people over to social - like you I would stop using Bluelight if EADD was changed from existing form - I just personally think that there have been some very unfair comments made in this thread. When I said 'Ill wander in at some point' or whatever I mean I'll get there if and when I feel like it. For the final time though, I really think that after asking such a legitimate question its a shame their does seem to be some direct animosity in some of the back and forth comments.

People should just post where they feel most comfortable, where they feel they can get the most out of and give the most to Bluelight and although it's healthy to get out and about and see if one can get something out of the other forums - no - body should feel press ganged into going anywhere at the moment. EADD + Social have had a difficult year but with them both doing better than they have done in a long time then it would be a shame to fuck it up know with by having any more threads with this flavour.
 
My point exactly. This thread just creates division where there really was none on a forum level. It was not needed as people have always been free to post where they want. This is not an attack on Bella as i <3 my lebanese nirvana loving friend i just think this thread is not a healthy one. Thats just my personal opinion and hell i am often wrong so i guess i will shut up now.
 
Consumer man, no pressure no agenda, no expectations - was simply trying to understand why people in EADD find it to be such an unappealing thought.

Social has come a long way from the old lounge (which I never felt comfortable posting in FWIW).

I also like venturing into PD, probably some of the nicest people on BL :D

Did not mean to make you feel like you have to do anything, if anything letting you know there are options! I don't think I've created any real division, I think all I've done is expose it really....

To everyone else, I'm really not here to make life difficult. If you want to close this, feel free.
