23 hours in!!

TPD- you prob don't remember me - used to be Stargazer--i am a fan Its a pleasure to read your posts. Good stuff-as always.

Indeed you're correct about gabapentin- i have been in it daily for almost 2yrs. 800mgs or more sometimes 3x day. I mean holy fuck the w/d is brutal WHEN DEPENDENT- as I am on it. I capitalized that so I don't scare the shit out of OP.

I just was more or less suggesting to err on the side of caution thats alll.

And for the record, when you have a tolerance for gabapentin it doesn't help -w withdrawal. At least not noticeably. Im kicking a little 3wk nosedive w dope.

Anyway- hello again TPD :)

Yeah 10yearsgone I hear you on that! That's why I will only take for 10 days and only go up to 300 or 400mg for the first 72 hours! I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can go to 200mgs from days 4-7, then jump after 3 days at 100mg! So far so good! I'm at about 30 hours now and I actually may be able to sleep tonight!

I really think you'll be ok doing that. Phew- gaba w/d is s snakebite. But thats if you just drop off suddenly. I am so glad to hear you're hanging tough. And from the bottom of my heart, I hope you have a peaceful and restful sleep. If you need one of your wife's xanax- I'd take it. You're using it short term as a comfort med so you have no worries of developing dependece. I hope I sleep tonight too. Day 2. It will pass.:/

Looks like the damn insomnia has got me! I feel pretty good otherwise and I'm staying positive! I'll sleep again soon and I've just got to accept that! The main goal is to get through this and never look back!

If sleep is hard you can always take melatonin. It is very safe and user friendly, and can really help. Other than that, why don't you take some Xanax, just like 0.5mg, if you need a bit of help falling asleep?

No sense in suffering needlessly through this process. If anything it will just make it unnecessarily harder. Suffering doesn't increase your odds of success when it comes to detoxing. If anything as the pain and suffering goes up the changes of lasting success tend to go down. Everyone's different, but this is fairly common among folks like us.

I took a .5 a xanax about 2 hours ago, no luck! I don't really feel bad at all, just can't sleep! Where can I get melatonin at? I'm a little over 30 hours now and the only symptoms I have had are a few hot and cold flashes, and the insomnia! I know the next 2 days will be the hardest, or so I've heard! Most people I have talked to have said when it comes to norcos, it usually starts to get a little better after about 96 hours! Any truth to that?

Things tend to improve around the end of the four day. You can find melatonin at pretty much any drugstore and supermarket. It is OTC. I suggest getting the 5mg or 10mg bottle and start with 10mg. Taking more after the first dose doesn't tend to do much, but you can experiment. With you'll be going through, I'd think that 5-10mg melatonin and 1-2mg alprazolam should make a huge difference with the sleep. Also I'd advice you to significantly increase your gabapentin at bedtime. For acute withdrawal the minimum prescribed dose is generally around 300-400mg at once, with a very common dose being more like 800mg. Experiment, see what works. For better or worse, you have at least a few days to :\...

May you soon find sleep my friend.

Ah .... the insomnia is a real pain in the ass. I can't suggest any more than TPD already has. Maybe have some stuff planned to do in case you're up all night--like different movies or shows. I have insomnia whether sick or not -- I catch up on diff on demand shows , read, clean out / organize things you've been meaning to.

Music saves me. Drawing lBut I think having a "in case I don't sleep plan" in place helps. It can cause anxiety for me. But remember, you will sleep again. It wont last forever. You're doing great. Just take it a little at a time.

Your kicking ass! I find the first 36 hours the strangest for me. After day 6 it started to get a little better each day. Just stay with it and reach out. We're all here for the same reason, and everyone's super supportive.

Hang tough and keep at it!

Sixx

You can delete it if you wish. For me it help to know different method to w/d and types of meds etc when I read the website. I did'nt want to give wrong info. Sorry about that.

Yeah I didn't get any sleep at all but I feel pretty good otherwise! I wake up at 5:30 every morning no matter what, I always have! I am now at about 38 hours so all I'm making progress! I won't relapse, no chance!

Considering your habit and the drugs you have on hand to combat such problems I really wouldn't worry about it. Your gonna experience some mild symptoms for a few days and most certainly some insomnia... If you start feeling rough throw an extra couple hundred mg's of GABA in for a day or two. Stay busy. Good luck!

Well, almost at the 48 hour mark and still kicking! I'm doing pretty good! Just had a nice nap and I've only had to take 700mg of gabapentin and 10mg of loperamide so far! I'm trying to do this with the least comfort meds as possible so by day 10 or so I won't have much in my system! One hour at a time is all I'm worried about right now! Good luck to you all!!

Right on dude! You're doing fucking awesome :)

Nothing worth being sorry about, I am just a little protective of SL ;)

Still, I'm curious to see direct links to the pages about the different methods and medications they propose on that site. I could find any pages with that info, but since you have, any chance you could go back and share direct links to the specific pages you found helpful? Who knows, others might find it helpful here too! :)

Well, you want to talk about some bad luck!! So yesterday evening when I was at the 52 hour mark I was feeling excellent so I decided it was time to finish taking down our xmas lights! Well in the middle of that somehow I slipped off my ladder and broke my elbow and my arm in two different places! I haven't took anything at the moment but I'm in so much pain right now it's really really bad! I just don't want to take anything but otc meds but it just isn't helping at all! If anybody knows something that may work I'm all ears! I'm not throwing away 3 days of being off these things to take them another 2 weeks! Talk about a rough spot! My wife thinks I need something for the pain, she's a nurse, any advice would be welcomed! Thanks BL

Man, that SUCKS. Sorry to hear that got dropped on your plate.

Managing your pain is going to be a personal call (i.e. whether or not you want to introduce narcotic painkillers into the mix). I do have one possible alternative, though. You could check out the drug called ketorolac...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketorolac

I am not in any way recommending that you SHOULD take this, merely that you might talk to your doctor about it. Basically, ketorolac is a very strong member of the family of drugs that includes ibuprofen. It's non-narcotic, and supposedly quite effective, though I haven't tried it myself. In fact, the reason I even know about it is because I'm getting ready to go on vivitrol and in preparation for that, they mentioned that while I'm on vivitrol, if I had an accident, ER personnel could safely/effectively use ketorolac on me. Again, without having direct experience with it, I don't want to oversell this option. But it might be worth exploring.

Good luck!

Hey guys! I hope all is well! Elbow is feeling ok, I'm back to work! I did have to use some painkillers last week because it was just flat out killing me! Today I'm back on day 1, and that's ok! I'm 22 hours in right now and yes, I am working! I still have the gabapentin and It works for all my withdrawals other than the insomnia! Hopefully someone will have an idea that works for insomnia! Thanks guys!!

I just got a hold of some kratom also! I don't really know that much about this stuff but it came highly recommended but a lot of people! Any feedback from you guys would be great!
