^ eh?
I was just posting in another thread about why i think bluelight is as valuable a harm reduction (and general drug) resource as it ever was; we have reports from around the globe about a range of really obscure novel psychoactives - and discussion of those reports from all types of people, from consciousness-alteration enthusiasts (that's a euphemism for "psychonauts", "tripped out heads" or "drug pigs") as well as people with backgrounds in medicine, chemistry, pharmacology - all kinds of fields.
Just because the social side of bluelight is quieter than it was...the site is still going strong and is highly relevant to a lot of people, for a variety of reasons.
In the age of mass social media proliferation, it's inevitable that the social side of BL is quieter than it once was.
But this is not to say that our social forums don't serve their purpose or fulfill the needs of people who benefit from being able to talk to likeminded people who don't judge them for using drugs or whatever.
Also, the legislative changes imposed by the tory government in britain had the desired stifling effect on the RC/NPS market in Britain, so a corresponding decline in the traffic of UK - it's a damn shame, but not necessarily a sign bluelight is dying.
Frankly, even a significant drop in traffic is not a sign of terminal decline; bigger is not always better (case in point: facebook) - and bluelight seems to be attracting increasing amounts of interest from the world of academia; mentions in scholarly publications have become something of a regular thing recently, as well as frequent studies that focus upon, or draw from, bluelight's members.
Not dying; maybe changing.
Might not be to everyone's liking - one of the things i love about EADD in particular is the witty back-and-forth that betrays both a predominantly British sense of humour that is generally drug-oriented and often risqué.
The sort of online banter that is just not the same in formats that have no illusion whatsoever of anonymity.
It's a lot of fun and i hope EADD continues to pick up.
Especially because being exposed to contemporary american politics on here is damaging my faith in humanity.
Christ.
Knowing something of the creative versatility (or at least massive size) of the UK drug market, i wouldn't be surprised if some new drug topic of major interest to a lot of people brings a whole bunch of new people to BL (as mephedrone and the heroin drought of a few years back did), and that they may stick around and brighten the place up a bit.
I really hope so, because it is kinda depressing how much people enjoy love saying "
forum's gone to shit" (23 pages worth in ~3 months) - and it would be cool if folks were less reluctant to post when it's quiet.
Because i know you fuckers are out there
