Oh and laudanum is lurvely. Made some, tastes nasty effects are grrrr-eat.
What were they like? My second-hand understanding is they were sort of speedy but not quite as harsh a ride. Mind, the speed was better in the old days. I got spoiled with some of the last of the good stuff before it turned to shite ..... rants incoherently at no-one for awhile, then shuffles off to check out the catalogue out of the Radio Times .....Mmmmmm, tenuate dospan. I have been lucky enough to be slipped a couple of tabs of Pethidine by my dentist, after an overnight stay in hospital having my badly-impacted wisdom teeth removed.
