A little light pottering around the related linkies reminded me that ketamine (and I think MXE has just begun to be studied too) is showing promising results for what we have anecdotally known for years - minor miracledrug when it comes to antidepressant effects.
The whole area of medical/therapeutic use of psychedelics is looking very positive of late but I'm possibly even more excited by the apparent interest in using psychedelics to investigate consciousness. It's one thing to have grudging acceptance of physical uses (cluster headaches, etc) another to have grudging acceptance of the emotional uses (depression, PTSD, etc) but delving into the far more abstract world of consciousness study is pretty much a whole new world of potential discoveries. So far very few tools have shed any light on the mysteries of consciousness so it really is encouraging to see psychedelic tools starting to be investigated.
PS: No link found between psychedelics and psychosis - again, anecdotal evidence is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the studies... but it's great to see the studies starting to catch up.
