I became addicted by my doctor. I do enjoy some other fun once in a great while. Just here for answers and support.

Hi, Welcome to Bluelight ! !

I have been dependent from prescribed drugs before. Please let me know if I can be of any help. Good to have you as a member. :)

Nice to have you aboard. The best way to begin any self improvement program is to be honest with yourself. Sounds like you've cleared the first step. admitting you have a problem. Believ it or not, lotsa people not only lie to everyone, but they lie to themselves. I have two people in my life one is a serious alcoholic the other addicted to crystal meth. Both lie to the point of completely denying they even USE DRUGS OR DRINK!!!!! It ruins any hope I have that they'll change & get help. At least you respect yourself better than that. I'll be on here a lot. Let's become friendly! We can try at least . Good Luck

I'm a newbie to posting on bluelight too and I too am a prescription pill lover. Prescribed benzos from a ridiculously young age, I ended up trying anything prescription or not that came my way. Just kicked a 20 year benzo habit and miss them like crazy. Its been nearly 6 months and i finally feel like i may be on the way to being able to cope without them. Also taking suboxone for other reasons. I am also a medical professional and see overprescribing more than i would like too. I also encounter a shitload of drug seekers and i always feel bad for them. I hear where you are coming from Noclue.

Unreal. Did I read that correctly? You actually kicked a drug dependency that possessed you for TWENTY YEARS!!?? That's a miracle. it gives me hope as well. I'm headed down the '20 years' road myself. You have 6 months clean. Even though that's phenomenal, you're still in the danger zone. I heard it gets easier after the second year.
I feel like praying for you to succeed & not relapse. Nevermind if you're not a Christian or Jewish or Pagan or Fartknocker!
You need all the help you can get. (:

Welcome! I am long been using bluelight for answers and just signed up myself. I agree with Olympic. The fact you know you have a problem is a huge first step. Also congratulations blk on 6 months clean! I recently have been self medicating my anxiety which is a comorbib condition with my add with benzodiazapines. Any advice you have for me please feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the support everyone. Im only 39 .... 20 years is over half my life. I was first prescribed xanax at 14 which led to me swallowing any benzo i could. It's been bloody hard and i would love nothing more than to stay on them and hide behind the numbness they provide. However the medical system is cracking down on them in australia and i can't handle stressing out and obssessing where to get more when I'm nearly out so I took the plunge and got rid of them. It is only now i finally feel like I have energy and am sleeping without being bombed out. I can read books again and actually remember what i read the next day. I am happy to listen to anyone trying to kick them. Of my addictions they were the hardest to let go of.
