God I miss Wilmington..
I have been into all the half way houses there.
Coastal Horizons and PORT offer free half way housing if you attend IOP.

It's a great place to get sober. It's also a great place to relapse. Either way, it's a great place lol. I do love the recovery community here, and there are several AA/NA meetings - one starts every 30 minutes. While there are some things I don't care for with the 12 step program, I will go to meetings if I'm feeling sketchy and they out me back in the right headspace. I think it's just the sense of community.

I got a lot out of IOP when I went. I found it a good transition once out of rehab. I just wish more people wanted to be there and weren't attending just for drug court. Some of the attitudes were hard to be around.

IOP in my area is worthless for the same reason. The rehabs get hooked on those court dollars and soon enough it's a group full of pot smokers and DUI receivers doing there time. While the 3 or 4 real addicts looking for help are shoved aside.

Only IOP programs I ever benefited from were either specialized non-12 Step programs like dealing with mental illness or opioid dependency (i.e. and treating it with ORT like buprenorphine or methadone along with individual and group therapy) AND were connected in some way shape or form with a reputible hospital type institution, ideally a research hospital connected to a public or private university. But sadely there are only so many of thise places out there.

I couldn't agree more with how it seems like the ones that are guarenteed patients through the courts get addicted to the money and start basically not caring whether their services are up to modern medical standards of care.

That is pretty much the case with most, but not necessarily all, well, the vast majority of most 12 Step based non-MAT (these are the vast majority of treatment options both in and outpatient in America sadly). They may not be necessarily connected to the courts, but the way things are going right now with more people seeking help for their addictive behaviors, they are all pretty much guarenteed a steady stream of customers, regardless of whether their services apply modern medical standards of evidence based care or shit out of the 1930s and 1970s. . .
