Deleting Me Off This and That

I've had mixed experiences breaking up with women.

I have always tried to do it in person.

On the phone or through messages usually leads to meeting up again in person at some point.

However, in person, I had one girl throw a coffee mug at me, chase me around her apartment with a knife, and lay in front of the door when I tried to leave.

From then on tried to find the right person from the beginning.

I second that you need to be sure that's what you want to do.

I'm in an on and off relationship now, mostly on and off due to my drug issues and her bad temper, but we both love eachother deeply.

I'm glad we haven't broken up for good, and left the door open to be together again at some point, because, if we didn't, I wouldn't be enjoying myself as much as I am right now, and I believe I wouldn't be free from the grips of a serious drug dependency like I currently am.

Yeah...

She told me she had borderline personality disorder, but I'm pretty sure she just used to say that so she could act however she wanted.

She was scared of being alone and had abandonment issues.

A lot of people are like this.
 
No offense taken, but I'm pretty sure all men 40+ are going through a midlife crisis and are emotionally unavailable. The most frustrating types of people you'll ever meet. Since we're stereotyping and all. :D

I go through BPD too, but I'm not chasing anyone around with a knife. Not all of us are the same (IF she even has it) I just have major abandonment issues. I tend to push people away a lot and try to get rid of them before they get rid of me. I don't believe anyone will stay and give up on me.

In no way am I saying that people with a diagnosis of BPD all chase others around with knives.

On the contrary, I'm saying the diagnosis had been used as an excuse to do so, whether correct or not, for this particular person.

I don't actually think she had even been to a psychiatrist and had proper testing.

I think it may have been a GP only saying she may have this or may have that, before prescribing her some antidepressants and benzos, then sending her on her merry little way.

She then used to look up the condition on google and self diagnose herself with it, then tell others she had it.

It was all bullshit and made breaking up with her a fucking nightmare! :)
 
How much do you talk?

For those of you who DO NOT live with your partner, but you are in a relationship, engagement or marriage, and yes there are some couples who are married and not living together, how much do you and your partner talk? Do you guys talk everyday, or even other day, or once a week, etc. I always thought it would have been nice if my partner, when waking up in the morning, send me a text, saying "Good morning sweetie, hope you have a great day!" or something along those lines, like ya know put me first, showing me that they were thinking of me as soon as they got up etc.

What do you think of people and their partners doing little things like this everyday?
 
I think it depends how long you've been dating and how intense really lol. More than 6 months, everyday, yes, I agree. Less than 6 months, eh, a few times a week, hanging out at least 1-3x. But yeah, it's cute when they text you those things, it shows they care and are thinking of you. however, not all guys are like that. I mean, the guy can love you and think about you all the time, they're just not the type of person to text you those things, or send you flowers, etc.

Like I've been dating a guy for almost 5 years and he doesn't really do that. Sure, somethings, maybe once a week IF that. Lol, never buys me flowers or presents, etc. But I've dated men for 3 months, who literally have texted me everyday, good morning, good night, date night-- they have flowers and presents. Who loved me more, right? Lmao, but I mean, of course my bf loves me more, but they just show it differently, lol.

You don't put yourself first so why should you be surprised that you're getting walked all over? I mean a lot of people struggle with self-esteem sometimes but this guy seriously has you wrapped around his finger. He knows you have low self-esteem and are incredibly needy and he's totally taking advantage of that.
 
I was going to ask the op if she had ever been diagnosed with BPD because a lot of her behavior seems to fit it just from what I know about it. Especially the pushing away and pulling back of people and all of that. But I felt like it might have been out of place since I, just like anyone else on here am in no place to be diagnosing people with mental illness over the internet. I do find the statement that all women have BPD pretty offensive to both women and people diagnosed with BPD. Even if it was a joke it sort of trivializes the seriousness of it imo.
