I've been a heavy opiate user for about 10 Years. This last 6 months I got deep in to heroin. I'm at a gram or more per day, and I can't stomach it anymore. I have Suboxone, and I'm looking for any tips to get through this detox in the shortest time possible. Do I take smaller doses to start after my 24+ hour dry out? Is it better to start small (1-2 mg Sub), go a little higher in the 2nd and 3rd days (4mg), and then way down again? I have a small stash of Clonazepam and Xanax, a little Neurontin, and a few other OTC things. Even some Kratum (Maeng Da). I'm looking for people's encouragement, and experience to shed some light and wisdom on how best to do this. I took my last half gram shot tonight, and I'm feeling nervous, but strong. Please give your (constructive) input! I'm so tired of using, and I'm ready.

Hi god. Im glad you have taken the first step that's great that you want to get clean. Anyways I do actually have some experience I've actually kicked up a lot of times. I'm actually 6 days clean today. I was a very heavy use your myself just this last time I was shooting up about 2 grams a day. I just barely got over being sick today is my 6 day. Anyways what I did to get through it if I had Suboxone. What I did was the first day I start withdrawing I waited 16 hours before I took a suboxone and I couldn't feel it at all since I had a high drug use I had to take 32 milligrams of Suboxone. Anyways they held a little bit but I was still feeling very bad all I could do really was laying in bed. So anyways I just typed it out and took Suboxone only and I'm feeling wonderful today I don't feel any sickness whatsoever pitch anyways what you can do in order to feel better if take klonopin that works really well for everything runny nose cold chills sweats all that bad stuff anyways also Benadryl works very well. There's a kind of a couple of the things I read about to help you I can't remember what it's called Bingo Conroe bum some type of vitamin that helps very well with a lot of beer withdrawals also drink a lot of water because I know you're not going to want any that's fine I remember one time I didn't eat for 7 days but that was when I get a cold turkey I started eating this time on my 4th day anyways make sure you take a lot of water because it your body it's going to be dehydrated and also drinking water helps get the Wiggles out as well well I mean it helps get the heroin out of your system. Anyways make sure you stock up on lots of fruit like canned fruit like Mandarin oranges and Skittles because sugar is very very good while you're withdrawing and the fruit is very very good as well and it's easy on your stomach so you do not vomit or get diarrhea. Anyways that's pretty much what I did I hope you continue to get clean air try to get clean and I hope it works out for you I have faith there's lots and lots of people who have been addicted to opiates you're not alone everybody has hope just believe in yourself and strive hard to go through the withdrawals I know they could be a tough but you can do it if you put your mind to it.

Greetings, Egodeath!
Glad to hear you are feeling ready to quit. I shall move your inquiry to a sub-forum where you are likely to get a better response from others who have experience.
I personally have no experience with Suboxone. I definitely recommend the kratom route, it has helped me heaps.

Thank you so much for the help in redirecting this. I'm obviously new to Bluelight as a poster, but it has been a go-to site for wonderful info over the years. Thanks so much!

@VeePeeCee This is some great, great advice. I'm on day 1. I'm a wiggle worm, and I have the basic intro symptoms. I won't be sleeping tonight, so the advice on the water and fruit is a HUGE help. I expect the chills soon, so I appreciate that info on when it's best to take my benzos! Hopefully my buprenorphine script will go through without a hitch tomorrow, so I can do the high dose regimen you're suggesting! If not, I've got a very small amount to work with. I'll definitely stock up on canned fruit in the morning (love those mandarin oranges!). I've heard of sweets being helpful, but not fruit, which I can sure stomach better! I can't tell you how much better every single suggestion makes me feel. And, I'm so, so happy you made it through the 6 days. You're my inspiration. I've never REALLY tried to quit. I always went straight to Suboxone and never stopped. But I'm just so tired. I'll be updating, and I really hope you continue to post - this is helping me even more than I had expected!! So grateful.

No worries ^^
You sound like you have confidence, and that is a big deal when it comes to having the will to stay sober. I wish you all the best on your journey through recovery!

Something that really helped me through the first few days of withdrawals was playing an online game. It will eat up your focus and hopefully take your mind off how you feel. Also, write in a journal. It is good to be able to go back to these times when you are feeling a little inclined to use again.

I am here for you my friend. PM me if you need.

A gram a day is going to be rough. I don't even know how much sub is really going to help honestly but there is no hurt in trying. I would guess your going to need to start in the 10mg range maybe more but be careful not to throw yourself into precipitated withdrawal by taking that much at once. With a habit that big your not going to hit full withdrawal until the 48 hour mark I would guess. Benzos are going to be the answer for the first week. Plan on taking 40-60mg a valium or its equivalent every 24 hours to stay comfortableish. I also recommend clonidine and a muscle relaxer. Pay close attention to your fluid intake vs what you are loosing through sweat and shitting. Dehydration is a real concern with a habit so large. Don't be afraid to hit up the ER for an IV if you cant replace the fluids.

I wish you luck.

A good MMORPG is a great idea. I'm hurting today. More than I expected to so quickly. So this is a good idea. Any suggestiong?

Those fluids are leaving fast. But I'm almost keeping up. Thank you for the Suboxone info. I'm actually using plain buprenorphine, no Naloxone, but it still sends you into withdrawal I'm told. I took my first 8mg this morning, and no effect yet.

I ditched the Suboxone plan, living on Xanax and clonopin instead. I didn't expect it to hit so very fast. But I'm hanging tough.

That's not a bad plan. I suggest low doses of loperamide to slow down the shits. 2-3mgs wont prolong your withdrawal and will help you stay hydrated. Sports drinks are great for hydration if you have them around. Otherwise water with a little sugar and table salt in it is better than nothing. Hang in there your going through the worst of it right now. If you can get to 100 hours it will begin to slowly let up. Don't be afraid to pump yourself full of the benzos these first few days.

Honestly I'd stay away from suboxone. Coming off that was a horrible experience for me (about a month long wd). I'm also coming off of a half-whole gram a day IV heroin habit. I'm finishing day 6 right now and I really do feel about 85% back to normal. I'd say around the end of the 3rd day/into the 4th is when I started getting better and then the changes have been more drastic and rapid, I can literally feel the difference throughout the day (and I've been house bound this whole time)

Honestly the acute WD period is probably the easiest part of heroin WD, IMO...it's the most overtly miserable part of WD & in general your life becomes really shitty for a week or so, but with enough benzodiazepines & OTC drugs you can smooth things over somewhat. Not to mention a variety of mu-opioid drugs like kratom.

The tricky part IMO is staying away from heroin and opiates, when you feel that they may have become a problem...if only acute WD was the primary problem with quitting hard opiates, it would be an easy fix: all heroin addicts could just go to a doctor who could administer a rapid taper program using subutex or whatever and boom, problem solved.

But yeah, if you have some Xanax, Klonopin, gabapentin and kratom? You'll be fine, shit, acute WD is the least of your problems. Then again I guess I'm speaking somewhat cavalierly about a self-described 10+ year heavy opiate habit.

I have been thru heroin withdrawals and they are no fun, I feel your pain man.
I suggest taking benzos, Immodium, Gabapentin, and even some Kratom.
The first 3 days are the hardest but it gets better after that.
My problem is the anxiety, RLS, and insomnia.

It's worth getting off the smack man, for me it is not even fun anymore.
Waking up sick every single morning... it blows.

Just stick with those meds and keep us updated.
I am going thru detox myself and it's no fun at all.

Much love to you.

I'm here with you godeath. I am now 20 days clean and I remember the first 2-3 days oh so well... YOU WILL BEAT THIS. These forums really helped me get over the 24 hr dry hump.
Keep in mind I had to quit on my own without rehab or doctors, and with a job and parents looking over my shoulder. I simply told them I had the worst cold of my life. So If I can do it you can!

STAY HYDRATED. Get some gatorade or whatever you can and keep it by your bed.
EAT. get apple sauce in little squeeze bottles if you can, really helps to limit movement. Alkaline foods like apples also help ease your stomach acid and give you a little more peace of mind.
SLEEP. Try your best . Zzzzquil really help me get a solid 4-5 hours and put my wiggle worm syndrome to rest.
DISTRACTION. put on put TV, book or netflix on and just ride it out! I watch an entire 5 seasons of Star Trek, TNG to help me get mhy mind off it (even with mom checking on me every 2 minutes), everyone has that one show that brings them to a special place. Do it it will help.

SHOWER: I know I know... the cold getting out is going to miserable. but the hot water feels SO FUCKING GOOD. When i was at my worst probably around 18-20 hours clean: This truly made a difference, I sat down and just let the water go on me for 15-30 minutes idk how long it just felt amazing to feel pleasure during this time of pain.

Once you get to a certain point the symptoms stop getting bad and then it's a waiting game. You will watch every second tick by but just push yourself to go another hour, another hour and before you know it you've gone 24 hours and you can take the sub!!!

I started taking 4mg (half) but it didn't help a lot so I took the rest (8 mg total) It made me functional, not miserable but tolerable. I've tapered myself down to .25mgs in the morning and night now after 20 days clean.
