Yep, almost the exact same situation has happened to me several times. I travel a ton and have copped all over the US (and the world!) And everytime I'm in a new city I feel like I might get burned. Not saying it hasn't happened-it has, but I've also had the same situation as you just explained happen to me before too. Most recently I was in Portland, Maine. Thought dude took my cheddar, I followed him and saw what building he went into, but I dunno what apartment or if there was a back way out. After waiting for what seemed like forever and I was gonna give up, he comes around the corner with a smile on his face. I broke him off proper before he could even ask. We both got right and I ended up buying us both a nice lunch too!

Last time I jumped in the car with this dude, he drove me to an abando, told me they're serving inside, when I walked in, I was hit in the back of the head wit a 2 by fou and sodomized for two days by what WAM described.
The worst part about it was, after getting bored with me, they left me tied up and after I eventually got loose most of my clothes were stolen(it was cold) ...along with my lucky rabbit's foot.
True story.

was just listening to a Spike Lee interview in which he shockingly stated that the North and South sides of Chicago have more murders than both Iraq and Afghanistan combined during the wars! What the fuck is wrong with yo city. You guys must be taking serious risks when going out there, unreal man.

Drug dealers are in it to make money, you can get money quick by robbing and killing but that is a faster route to jail or the grave than selling drugs.
Chicago is a big city, most of the murders are gang related...
But there are lots of non lethal shootings that are increasing every year it seems due to advances in medical science.
I dunno, you get desensitized to the violence, I'm more worried about getting beaten or stabbed than shot...
I would have more respect for spike lee if he was a native versus selling chicago like a product for his show.jjones0207

Yeah I shoulda knocked on wood when I was reading this thread the other day. I was thinking man I really havent been robbed before, it happened today. Young sucker (maybe 16) snatched and ran off with my cell phone. I almost caught him with one of the guys in on it I was copping from grabbed my jacket giving the guy enough time to run into a bando.
So I wont be on mobile BL for a while (or talking on the fone for that matter). Mobile BL sucked anyway I lost a new post about the size of Davids former post. Felt like I lost moments of my life I will never get back taking all that time to type it up lol.

...Yeah come to think of it I did. in the chi half the guys on the block are younger than 20 so its relative. A kid can kill u just as easy as a grown man. Actually an older guy did it then passed it to the young guy and he ran. one dude had a pocket pistol. I wont incriminate myself on what I was thinking about coming back & doing but I'm not even guna stress over it. They coulda robbed me for my $ or whip or jumped me since it was four of them. but guna leave that shit alone.

I never want to hear about you getting robbed like that again, man up and quit noddin! No grown man should be putting himself in a position of being robbed by a prepubescent, it's time to get help. I'm utterly distraught at how they humiliated you, those little thugs/punks.
I was just talking about this with someone, but the west side of Chicago and the south side of Chicago are completely different. When you hear of all the shootings, murders, and all that, a great portion of that happens on the south side. The gangs on the west side are all about making money, and shootings on the block is bad for business. You'll actually see 2 dope spots within a block of each other, run by 2 different gangs, even historically 2 rival gangs, and instead of fighting one another over customers or territory, they'll help each other out with look outs and security. I'm not saying there's no violence on the west side but not like the south side. On the south side, they don't just gang bang but they set bang, you'll have 2 different sets of the same gang within a block of each other and they'll be into it shooting at each other. They don't have the open air market like the west side. There is an open air market but you won't see the white suburban clientele like you see on the west side. When I was just locked up a majority of the dudes from the west side were fighting drug cases and a majority of the dudes from the south side were fighting gun cases. It was pretty interesting actually, just seeing the difference in demeanour between the guys from the west side and south side.jjones0207

lol glad to see im not the only one that notices this. Im from the southside, ventured to the west and its a fact what ur saying, I dont even have to repeat it I couldnt have said it better lol. almost all of the cases of someone spraying bullets, its on the southside. And still most shootings...southside. Never have I seen 30 police tahoes & a helicopter on a summer night on 67th & cottage flying 50mph through the streets.
After about 11pm on the weeks all hell breaks lose.
If you wanna get it, you can get it in Chicago.. lol

Gang politics seems complicated...its fucked...banging on one group this week, some other the next...just so very fucked up.

As messed up as it sounds, the Chicago PD, Cook County, State and Federal law enforcement are kinda to blame for the gang violence on the streets. Not completely responsible of course, but indirectly. Between 10 and 15 years ago, there was a big crack down on gangs in the city and a lot of the gangs hierarchies were locked away with no contact to the outside. And with that loss of leadership came the loss of structure within gangs. Years ago there were consequences for the actions that these "rogue" sets would have had to face but now there's no one to answer to and that's where the "set banging" comes from. So where the government thought they were hurting the gangs strength, they really just caused a lot more chaos.realtalkloc

thanks for sharing this, this is an interesting perspective. I'm just very intrigued by what is going on in Chi. and why its crime rate is so much higher than other places in the States.

I think it has to do with the overall attitude of the county and state.
Every other state I have been to people seem happier and more positive, you can go in a gas station and people are polite and in a decent mood, in chicago and the surrounding burbs people are in such a rush, so pissed off, so cynical and blunt. The county as a whole has neurotic tendencies, add to that the high water mark of violence and there is a standard of violence to be maintained.
California seemed fake to me in that everyone was so nice and cool, compared to chicago it was like bizarro world.
Chicago women in particular could learn allot from their californian counterparts.
I personally support peoples rights to arm themselves, but I don't feel I need a gun and that's after a recent attempted car jacking where my car was shot at. Non drug related.
I have been in some crazy ass situations, users usually have crazy lives, but I've never been caught up in a shoot out, I've had guns drawn on me but having a gun on me wouldn't have made a difference.
But I have been embarrassed and humiliated more times than I can count and I think more often than not that is why guns are used.
I know if I had one I would use it, so I'd much rather let the cops do the heavy lifting.

Reading ur post made me laugh lol. I dont feel I NEED a gun but im deff getting one. I dont think im ready this year but give me about two yrs...firepower lol. Im not guna be one of those ego-istic ppl tho that has to have the biggest .45 that will bury someone.
To be honest, I dont always think every time you pull it out in a situation, you have to shoot or kill someone. Esp if ur a cop. shooting someone in the leg will stop them in alot of situations. Esp when these cops arent just firing one or two shots. If they have a gun also or are in close range with a knife then nvm. But some times just pulling it out will put a pause on whatever is going down. just be prepared to shoot if u have to.
Chicago is the way it is because it has a unique history. Its one of the most segregated cities (outside of its downtown). I could probably post a documentary on it if you all want. It talks about the projects (low-income high rises that they tore down starting in 2001). When they arrested the heads of several gangs (famous ones are larry hoover, jeff fort) it caused chaos in the gangs hierarchy. Then they also tore down the projects, the low-income high rises were
different gangs territories. When they moved the gangs were spread throughout the inner city in a way that accelerated white flight to the suburbs. Chicago thought it would help taking out the structure of the gangs, but it made no one accountable for their actions within the gang so all hell has broke loose as your seeing today. On a minor note, shooting death tolls in chicago hover around 500 when I read at one time during the crack epidemic it was around 900. BIG DIFFERENCE, things are crazy but have been crazier maybe because of technology.

Unless you know exactly where you are going, which is still super sketchy if you do know where you're going and by the sounds of it you don't, I wouldn't suggest you go searching the streets. Being a "tiny female" can make you an easy target for a whole bunch of bad situations with getting robbed being the better of the bunch. Just out of curiosity would you be trying this search in a vehicle or on foot?
