@ Woosa:
Son - you watchin' the opening scene of "The Night Before," and then you'll be rewinding the rest of the night tryin' to catch-up LOL.... Copping in Sri Lanka was quite the adventure, I have a thread about it that I will link to a the bottom of this post.
Sri Lanka is a really unique country (tear-drop shaped island just south of India). The World Health Organization classifies countries in 3 levels: underdeveloped, developing, and developed. Sri Lanka was recently approved up from underdeveloped to now being classified as "developing," so it felt like a city in some parts, but mostly 3rd world country, lol... Really a fascinating experience.
The dope quality varied a little bit. It was always that tan powder, but you could not snort it (my preferred ROA), and would need to add some type of acid to shoot it. I never fucked with a needle, so I did as the natives do, and chased that shit off the foil.
I had done some research online before copping, and the average purity was somewhere between 30% and 50% in Sri Lanka, and I was coming from NJ where average purity is 90% + (according to DEA reports). This shocked me, because as you alluded to, Sri Lanka is far closer to the "golden triangle.' Anyway, all the local dopeheads told me the dope comes from Pakistan... It was heroin #3, freebase powder, and slid down the foil better than most tar I get here in Denver.
The high was sometimes, fucking great. I had a lot of trouble working out which connect to cop from, because they both were fairly inconsistent in their quality, but when it was fire, it was FIRE. It was my 2nd to last day and I was smoking a bag on the floor at one of my fellow user’s 1-bedroom shack, when one of his homies said he needed to talk to me... Homey took me aside and basically said I was getting charged double the price, and Nadun (the guy middle-manning my purchases) was playing me out. Nadun himself used, as did his wife, and so they were charging me 2,000 rupies (~$15) per bag, which I found out were actually 1,000 rupees (~$7.50). I liked going through Nadun’s wife because they both used daily, but his wife (Reyma) would always go to the better connect and get me the fire.
My other option was a guy named.. (can’t believe I’m drawing a blank!) but we’ll call him Taj for the story. Taj had tuk tuk drivers (like a taxi, but on a motorcycle) willing to drive him to drops, so he was someone that could drop me dope on my lunch break, at my house in the morning before work, after work, etc. Except, Taj was a drinking and never used heroin. Because of this sometimes Taj would bring me bags the felt nearly bunk (just low quality) and randomly he’d bring me the best shit I’d had in the country.. Mind you everyone spoke VERY broken-English, so requests surrounding quality got quite challenging..
At the end of the day, the whole process/mission of coping and getting high in Sri Lanka was honestly really enjoyable. I try to paint the memory negatively because I was doing something so harmful to my mind, body and spirit, but there really was a thrill and sense of adventure from start to finish. I’d walk into the dope village and neighbors would invite me to drink their tea, teens outside would ask me to sit with them, put a cigarette in my mouth, and light it for me… lol Hospitality is a huge part of Sri Lankan culture, and they hold a very high reverence towards Americans thanks to the relief efforts spearheaded by many American agencies following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami that decimated Sri lanka. I really hope to go back soon, because I am fairly certain everyone I met will be exactly where I left them, people had been living in these slums for generations.
Final note for copping outside of your area, whether it be a new city, or halfway across the earth, is to use Google! Forums like these can be helpful, but often restrictions on sites (such as bluelight) make it fairly difficult to actually pinpoint a promising location. What I did was use google to search for NEWS articles involving “heroin.” After a half-hour or so of research, I found the road in Sri Lanka that was identified as a hub for all the gangsters and criminals… They made it sound pretty dangerous, and granted many places are, but I felt totally safe among the people living there…
The greatest threat were the 3 plainclothes officers that scoured the village 2x/day. I was actually confronted by 1 of these officers while waiting for my dude to return with my shit (I would wait in his ‘house’ with his wife). I didn;t even realize it was a cop cuz he had on flip-flops and a collared shirt barely buttoned, lol. He asked me a few questions, and after seeing the American passport he was like. “You must be safe, there is much crime and drugs here. Do not stay here long,” and left me alone… LOL. #Whiteprivilege #USAprivilege
P.S. If I’m looking for dope in any city I always search the news on google (local news to the area is even better). When I was visiting Chicago, I found articles detailing which gangs posts up on which side of which corners, at which park… It’s amazing how descriptive they are. Granted, dboys constantly move their spots (as needed), but it's never TOO HARD to track em down!
