Why didn't you just keep the original?

And how the hell did you afford that beast on admin wages??

oh, sorry ;) be sure to thank Evey for her BL donations

I've always been a sports car guy and hated with a passion most of the pretentious status-symbol cars. Only problem is that my work has announced a new 3 year lease scheme and some of the deals are pretty amazing. Unfortunately, the cars on offer are the usual German marques. I'd love a Nissan 370z, or a Porsche Cayman (can't afford a 911!), but I'm stuck with Audi, Mercedes, Volvo or BMW saloons.

Not sure whether to become what I have always sniggered at, or lose out on a great deal. What do you reckon?

Could get the new C Class for £200 per month, for example...

Audi, merc and bmw's are generally driven by pretentious dicks (sorry, Ali) but those modern diesel engines give you staggering BHP for your 70mpg. I'm tempted also, am looking at a merc at the mo'. The lesser of 3 evils.

If you need more encouragement, listen to this:

i had to renew my registration and, even though my car passed all california emissions tests, they failed it because the catalytic convertor was a non-standard part (it was for a 2000 A4 and mine was a 1999). they tightened the rules for emissions testing in california so that your car doesn't just have to pass the tests - the part has to be on an approved list. total bs bureaucracy. anyway, it would have cost most of the value of the car to replace the cat. with an approved part so i just sold it.

we get paid a lot more than you think.

yep. the only possible reason somebody could have for driving the car they drive is because they care to impress people.

welcome to the pretentious dick club. :)

Is that what classes as music these days? I thought you were trying to encourage me?!

Joking aside, I am a little worried about looking like a pretentious twat. Perhaps that means I actually AM a pretentious twat!

oooh thanks! :D So BMW vs Merc as far as I'm aware (audi, being VW owned, have probably cheated the MPG count considerably)

problem with mercs, is most of them are automatic... so a sexy BMW is on my forelist... but as a beemers are considered to be driven by pretentious arseholes and drug dealers (and im not a dealer, honest *bro fist FBI*) I think a merc would be the best bet

Can you leave my fucking name out of things AND FOR THE LAST TIME LEAVE ME ALONE. I seem to be the only one to see what game you're playing. You were quick to ASK for my donation to change your username.

DROP IT!!!!!

I cannot name my current dorky 'motor' due to the embarrasment of it 'not being cool enough' and also embarrasment about being emabarrased that my 'new car' is not cool enough. :o (Also it would make it very easy for anyone to identify me, if anyone was that interested)

After crashing and writing off my beloved previous motor of the last decade or so a few weeks ago, i lost 14 years worth of no claims bonuses, plus having to answer yes to the question 'have you been in any accidents in the last 5 years" meant that insurance for my old car would have cost me @ £2,500 which is insane for an insurance group 7 or 8 car. I just dont earn enough to arfford that plus i had to buy a new 2nd hand car as my own car wasnt covered unto TPO.

As much as i did like that model, and all the features it came with, ive had to take the very stark and extreme "sensible option" of getting a group 1 motor. Even for that the insurance is @£450, but tax is only £20 p/a thank fuck. The car itself is absolutely fine for driving around town, its like a little Go-cart or something, the steering is light as fuck, and having a heavy right foot its probably a good job that it is not fast, i am now one of the slowest cars on the road which is a new experience. I need to not have any more accidents for 5 years. With any luck I will manage that, as i last had a major car accident when i was 18, and though there have been countless very fucking near misses, and i might be able to adfford an upgrade in 5 years when my insurance will come back down to normal levels.

My main whip is a Toyota 4wd. I love being able to load it up with camping gear and hitting the islands around here. Admittedly I'd never cross this lagoon at high tide like these guys though.

I also feel safer from kangaroos while travelling the highway each week to pick the kids up from school.

I also have a 1976 Porsche 911 that I inherited from my brother. Loud, hot and cramped. I only use it to teach the kids how to drive a manual.

The lady is due for a new car and I'm trying to talk her into a mustang or Dodge Challenger. Seeing as see is a sales rep the chances of her wanting to park a V8 around town is pretty slim. I might have to sweeten the deal by offering to put pink racing stripes on it

A Honda CRV and love it to bits... now lol (Sadie will know what I mean). It's green and has a boot floor that converts into a picnic table plus briefcase space and lipstick lite mirror plus numerous cup holders and shopping nets, hooks and great mileage per gallon and... And

Sad eh 8)

Oh and a 2l Vtech engine, I like that a lot %)
