All things camping/hiking/outdoor survival

Cheers. Looks good!

Have you had it out in really bad wind? We've been seduced by these pop-up tents twice now, and both times they've been a huge mistake. Not designed for Scottish weather.

Even our big beast with metal poles was flattened by the katabatic winds coming off Loch Lomond last year (at Cashel). We had to buy new poles and put her into tent hospital to get some rips repaired. That was a traumatic experience actually... and being on the comedown from MXE didn't help either. :|

Two camping trips organised last night, I say camping, more like "glamping" I guess as the tents are rather nice and already set up but they are tents all the same.

North Wales and Suffolk later int year.. can't wait :)

Turn your back for too long and the jungle will consume you....

Wow.... Ace photos, thank you for sharing them with us. Looks like an interesting island. Nice to see the sea. I like looking at pics of the sea, think we should have a sea thread. Hah.

My real life mates and I have just booked a camping weekend in August for our annual reunion. This is the site we've chosen:

https://www.coolcamping.co.uk/camps...ngland/shropshire/299-foxholes-castle-camping

It's near Bishop's castle in Shropshire and looks a nice place - they even allow campfires. However, the friend who booked it has just informed us that 'No music or rowdiness' is allowed after 11pm. This could be quite an issue because we're usually only just starting to get going at that time :\

Picture a dozen or so scruffy immature 50 something blokes, with with copious quantities of booze, weed and speed etc, and at least four guitars, several gob irons and some percussion....

So I'm just wondering if any of you lot are familiar with either this site specifically, or how flexible campsite rules are generally. We don't usually do campsites (for the aforementioned reasons probably), so any advice or thoughts would be welcome. :)

Suppose it depends on your proximity to other campers, who are liable to complain.

Cheers Scotsman, all good advice there, and precisely the reason we don't usually bother with campsites. However, time is getting short now - we're such a useless bunch of cunts it's taken since last August for us to organise this years venue, and some of our number are travelling from abroad so need to make bookings etc. Looks like we'll just have to suck it and see...

Aye, what Scotsman said.

If you go to an official campsite with the above agenda, you will almost certainly ruin everyone else's holiday and get thrown out/police called. People go to campsites for peace & quiet & relaxation, and the slightest bit of noise or carry-on is really fucking not on. :|

There's also the fact that you will probably seem quite an intimidating bunch to the rest of the folk on the campsite, which isn't really what people like to camp next to.

Having said that, it sounds like fun and I want to go. ;)

Im aware a Bluelight camping expedition could only take place in a parallel universe where we're not a bunch of unorganised druggies.. But shall we make a thread, talk about it for ages, make it sound like it's just on the cusp of happening. Then forget about it all.

This pretty much sums my lot up as well - i think they'd fit in well on BL. This is why it's taken us nearly a year to organise...

Eh? I thought the whole point of camping was to embrace the opportunity to stay up all night getting as off yer tits as possible whilst belting out bad renditions of Hawkwind and Stones tracks on anything that makes a noise....

Anyway, you know the place, the time is the 7th, 8th & 9th August - get yer ass down there! if we're gonna get busted, we might as well go out with a bang.'

Standard.

Edit: It was a wonder as many people as did made it to Amsterdam that one time.
