Ah, now that's completely different :)

Seriously though, I can appreciate the giving something back reason, which is admirable, but it must take up so much bloody time and unless one happens to be unemployed/on the sick/retired/have no life, I can't imagine having enough time to contribute fully. Fair play to the current staff, I just don't know how they do it...
 
I was unemployed when I modded here, it definitely helped. I was around 24/7 pretty much :|

These days I am an office drone, i.e. am perpetually exhausted and void of any altruistic tendencies.

Never again ;)

Trolls do not exist rather the intolerance to put up with someone that is better than you and not afraid to show it exists. Now there are spammers and they do need to be addressed imo. I find most of you cannot relate to the humor in the lounge and it is a shame b/c I always say the more the merrier. Americans and Australians have a unique angry/ cynical/ dark sense of humor from what I have found in my travels.
 
FWIW, I mod here because it seems to fit well. When I've not been officially modded up I still tend to post and act exactly as I would/do when I am besticked. To be honest, having a stick is a massive pain in the arse for the most part but obviously seems to suit my natural posting style and approach to dealing with people and situations. For me this is more the type of thing that one should be thinking of if actively wanting to mod this place. It's almost one of those situations where wanting it is an eyebrow-raiser cos such positions to attract petty 'n' pathetic scumfucks at times.

At the risk of triggering the traditional "Y'all're just shameless circle-jerkers" criticism, I'd honestly say that the vast majority of staff I've ever known - not just in EADD but across the site - do it because they feel they have greatly gained... this, that, t'other, such like and so forth from BL that they have an honest desire to chip in and try to help out as best they can. The work isn't "hard" as such - mostly donkey work on a day-to-day basis - but the "soft-modding" stuff is the genuinely hard bit and what separates the manwomans from the girlboychilds. Y'all who genuinely believe infractions are the way we deal with things probably need not apply. Self-indulgent wankery or not, it really is so very much more complicated, conflicted and involved you'd really not have much reasonable chance of catching up. Not claiming it's any great and special skill but there are certain skills required and it's generally far easier to tell who doesn't seem to have them than who does.

So do most EADD posters. It's just that folk who post in EADD are also funny which is kind of a dealbreaker when deciding on where best to post for gigglez ;)
 
Option 2 most closely matched the last thing I was thinking on the subject before being offered an actual modstick. The few notches on its polished shaft were not carved in haste, without solemn meditation on the effects they would create, and the consequences of the consequences. (Nobody has asked for it back yet, anyway.)
 
From memory I've infracted somewhere between half and a dozen times over the years. Probably nearer the latter these days as have been at it for quite some time now. Have given a few no-points warnings too, of course. Mostly it comes down to "soft-modding" options - the *gentle purple public chastising* or the "quiet word in your ear" PM (usually considerably more than just the one PM, mind...). I'll not go into other aspects of disciplinary choices as we don't discuss details of what is spoken about in the backrooms, but, suffice to say, it seems as though many of you would be somewhat surprised to see the reality compared to the fantasy.

Do you think you have a good enough sense of humor/ the maturity to mod the lounge? These places are so different I would be interested to see how it worked out though I dont think people there would be too keen on it.
 
@Sham; does my willingness to help out the community raise a brow or two?
I like to consider myself different to a 'petty... pathetic scumfuck', but I guess I have been called worse...
