The Lib Dems came sixth and last in my constituency, getting less than 1,000 votes. Hahahahahahahahaha.

Plaid increased their majority over Labour.

I was explaining the situation. Don't let the nationalists twist you into their racist ideas, nobody in England is anti-Scottish, just anti break up of the UK & anti-nationalist.

I guess you missed this kind of stuff...

No, I certainly didn't miss that kind of stuff. We have the internet up here, you know? ;)

I think it's a bit naive to say that "nobody in England is anti-Scottish". It would be naive and untrue for me to say the reverse too.

BTW: could you explain what you mean by: "Don't let the nationalists twist you into their racist ideas"?

my thoughts on murdoch is that he should fuck off.

"The Tories have the support of titles accounting for [66%] of national newspaper sales. Labour's share is about 14%"

no offense to any tory voters here but I have heard people today saying that the conservative majority demonstrates the approval of the electorate for conservative policy and ideology.

I'm more of the opinion that it demonstrates there are a lot of stupid cunts in this country.

So what are your thoughts on Murdoch having backed the SNP?

My thoughts are - obviously - that he only did it to help fuck over Labour in England.

Murdoch's help wasn't wanted or needed in Scotland. He knew damn fine which way the tide was turning up here and simply pandered to it at the last minute.

I hope you're not suggesting that the SNP's success is down to him? It most certainly isn't.

No, he did it to sell newspapers. Now you're falling for the ridiculous line too.

Murdoch - sells - papers.

He does it by backing winners. That's why he supported Blair.

There's a bit more to it than selling papers. Having a Tory government suits all his other interests too. I haven't fallen for anything.

Not for one moment.

As I've already suggested, I think the independence referendum was timed perfectly to drum up solid support for SNP, and when the ballot results came out, a lot of those who voted yes (quite naturally, if unfortunately) reacted to the 'no' vote by getting right behind the SNP in the General Election. Most of them initially believing that they'd end up in coalition with Labour.

I wonder how much different the results would have been had the independence referendum not happened, or had it been held three or four years ago?

Then why hasn't he said vote SNP in the Scottish Sun previously? You know, to destroy Labour like you say?

Sorry, but you have on this occasion. Doesn't make you a running dog lacky. Calm down dear. ;)

Murdoch backs winners, always has done.

I have little to add to this thread - I'm all grass roots and not as well versed as many of you here.

All I can say is that the SNP result made me cry with happiness for all the people in my constituency, country and party who have been out in the streets and talking to each other about what we want for our people, communities and country. I've been overwhelmed by the community engagement in this election locally and nationally via social media and what has and is still happening on the streets.

Everywhere I have walked these last weeks there has been discussion and openness between people meeting eye to eye and actually speaking to each other about what maters to them and we have come together in Scotland - the feeling is electric and I'm liable to greet again! 8)=D%)

Murdoch would not back anybody who wasn't part of his agenda. He didn't back Kinnock when it looked like he might be (I can't believe I'm typing this) a winner, did he?
