Try installing Microsoft Security Essentials from the microsoft website. It's one of the things they do quite well.

I dont even bother these days,well maybe for 10 mins,I just format and reload the the thing, I did the family laptop last night and had it running with office a PS installed inside 2 hours, all my data is now on USB HDs connected to the desktop so even that can just get reloaded, the last few times I cleaned infected or least sluggish a buggy windows machines it was a waste of time, I keep thinking about creatng images but I;m toobusy waiting doctor who and playing WoWC.

Had a bad week with such things as I busted my XP install on my dirty workmachine by switching to the Win 7 drive when io handnt shut down, I tried reviving it but had to reload in the end, I swear between PCs and the stiff I work on I must install Windows 10 times a week, it lost whatever shine it had a good while back

Incidentally, I've not forgotten - nor am I ignoring - your PMs. I'm just shite at timely responses (as bore witness to by folk having to prod me to clear space cos I "only" have room for 500 PMs 8)). I'm even worse than usual at the moment due to the unusually high squirreling quotient of late but will get back to you soonest <3
