right im not having a go here, why are you still in contact with your family if you feel this way? surely cutting tie will improve your mental health as they dont seem to be helping you? or are we only hearing one side of the story and you are an utter nightmare for them?

if i was in my 30's and my family were trying to control me like this id tell them where to go, maybe stop talking to them for a while, shut them out and make them understand you are living your own life..

although from what i can gather they are only looking out for you as you are a single mum with a drug addiction? the fact u type 'i've a good mind to stay on it' sorta shows the level of maturity u are displaying which in my opinion would make them want to treat you like a child more? maybe i'm wrong,

anyway you prob won't read this post but i'm genuinely interested as i dont get how you allow this to take place being an adult n all, but i've no clue as to your family dynamics so this is purely speculation based on what you said.

and no, im not having a go at you, just trying to give an outsiders perspective

That is pretty much what i was getting at, from the sounds of it they are merely helping but as you are intent on staying high you wont view it as help, but as nagging
 
I'm not an addict anymore n I am coming off subs i'm on 4 mg. I was on12 mg. They seem to think i should just 'get off it'. Force yourself off it they said. Of course I'm going to come off it, just said that I wouldn't in frustration
Ive a daughter so I can't cut myself off as that wouldn't be fair on her.

well u are still an addict.. u are addicted to suboxone.. it may not have been your drug of choice but you are prettymuch hooked on it now aren't you?

I don't get how you can distinguish between the two, its like saying ppl on methadone are no longer addicts cuz they are off smack, you are still ingesting strong opioids daily = addict

as for talking to your family, that is as easy or as difficult as you wanna make it, if they get angry, be calm and say i will talk to you when you calm down n leave, dont retaliate, you ever done CBT? i think you would probably benefit from it as you seem to be having issues dealing with conflict which cbt would help you address.. and this is all going on what youve said.
 
Yea you may have a point. I do seem to get slight WDs in the mornings if I've not taken the subs since being on 4 mg whereas when on 12 mg this wasn't the casw.

I hear what you're saying re my parents but i don't deal with conflict situations very well so either get over emotional or just end up agreeing with everything n feeling immense anger after for being a guttless coward. And I want them to be pleased with me but i feel they never seem to be cept when i got my degree that time.

thats exactly what im saying.. if you feel you cant deal with the conflict and you either give in or have a meltdown then surely getting some help to deal with issues like these should be a priority?? why not mention it to your gp saying that you have researched cbt and feel it would be effective in helping you rewire the way you deal with stress as you obv aint coping well with it currently?
 
A lot of this conflict may well be caused (or exacerbated) by your denial of being an addict, and their surefire and true knowledge that you are. I'm sure they're annoyed as hell that you won't even admit it to yourself, let alone them. I can totally understand why they might be frustrated and pissed off.

Perhaps admitting this to yourself would be a good first step. Then admitting it to them. After that, you all can have a constructive conversation. :)

first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem after all.. and you know that bupe is WAYYY stronger than codeine so you do now have a hard drug addiction

Passed my practical exams today.... That was the end of the four week course...really enjoyed it and learned some good new skills...

Just the 3 week driving thingy to get though and it's back to propper work:)..

Got my new station too...Sunderland... Could be worse I suppose (just) :)

Haha!!!... Actually that was something different... It was written exams yesterday and practicals today... Two separate things....

I've always been an insensitive clod though.....and as a matter of fact I'm quite angry about that...does that count? :)
 
Considering the amount of time spent on here, it's surprising that I only heard the term for the first time a year ago; my best mate's girlfriend is from Gateshead and she was living with us for a year. She educated me!
