Im pretty sure thats the reason PTCH left. and others i reckon. She single handedly nearly fucked this place up imo, no one wants to come on here reading her dramatic bullshit and pissing everybody off daily. good way to get rid of new members and whatnot getting put off by that. bullshit consistently. Ive no regrets for ripping into her

I have taken huge amounts of tramadol when I was on withdraw and it didn´t work for me either.

As FUBAR hinted at, anybody who leaves a forum because they have a problem with a single member rather than simply ignoring that member could perhaps do with re-examining their priorities. There is an ignore function - works fine as long as you actually ignore rather than reading anyway. Alternatively, just don't read or respond to posts by any person that causes irk. Works fine for me and I honestly can't see any reason why it shouldn't for anybody and everybody else.

Also, you may feel personally justified in "ripping into her" but that is considered unacceptable behaviour and is specifically against the BLUA and EADD Forum Guidelines so anybody doing so will be warned/infracted no matter who they are ripping in to. Is it really worth people earning themselves a tempban cos they have no restraint and can't bring themselves to just ignore a personal irritant whose posts can be made to disappear at the press of a button?
 
Can't say I agree, Shambles. The ignore function doesn't suffice. Evey dragged the whole forum with her. She was instigating arguments in nearly every thread in her own special way, arguments which took over the whole thread and there was no way around them for the uninterested reader, not even by putting her on ignore: there were always other people taking offensive, or trying to help, or even actively trying to avoid her.. who would then had to be put on ignore too! This whole forum started to look Eveycentric and not for the better.

Very eloquent and perceptive of you - that is indeed what I was inferring. I don't like bullying at all which is why I didn't join in the evey lynchings (not saying she ain't a nutter or owt like)...

Furthermore, in Evey's case it was like feeding the trolls. She inadvertently received more attention from being called 'attention seeking' than she ever would if people just hadn't risen to the bait.

Whilst I do have sympathy for people who see it this way I still don't see how it's so very hard to just not read posts that you aren't interested in. It's simple: the moment you realise you are not interested in reading that post stop reading it. Problem solved. Or at least lessened to minor irriation at having to scroll through a load of dross.

And the BLUA and Forum Guidelines apply to everybody. Harrassment is not allowed plain and simple. There are plenty of people around BL whose posts I'd rather not read and who I'd be more than happy to see no longer a BLer - a number of whom are a complete pain in the arse with no noticeable redeeming features in my view - but we don't get to just ban folk cos we have a personal problem with them even if several people have similar personal problems with them. If exceptions are made for one person then precedent is set for what isn't so very far away from virtual lynching of anybody who isn't approved of by folks who just can't manage to not get sucked into things that annoy them. First they came for the... and all that. Bad road to go down.

For what it's worth, I agree with all of this.

Nothing's gained by being a cunt to people, and it just disrupts the programme. I'm guilty myself of a lack of patience & empathy sometimes, but I'm learning quick. This place has come on leaps and bounds recently (from my perspective) and I hope we can encourage people like PTCH to come back and wriggle back in place. Maybe he's got other priorities and EADD doesnae matter to him any more, but we'll see.

Mebbe me and kate (and Sadie) will chap his door one night and ask him what he's up to. :D
