Opioids Drug Documentaries that scared the shit out of you...

I'm not sure it's too applicable. "Midnight Express" is more about smuggling drugs than actually doing them. In fact, the main character in the movie is trying to get hashish through the airport. It's hard to compare this movie to something like "Intervention. For instance, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone suffering W/D's from not having their hash but maybe... For the record, I loved this movie and I thought it was very well done. The intensity is "off the charts" at many points. Really good stuff!!

I love Midnight Express. Although I wouldn't consider it a real drug movie, the tension is unbelievable. Its like the forerunner of all the Locked Up Abroad/Banged Up Abroad series which are also amazing.

It's not about heroin but there is one called High On Crack Street. It is pretty entertaining, those were some trashy ass people in that documentry though, I just remember the scene where there all smokin crack and ones talking about quitting, and the one girl just rolls her eyes..the fights between the guy named Boo(had a really hairy back) and that girl, christ. But I guese that's crack..

I've seen a million drug docs but the ones about alcohol are always scariest. "Drugged: High on Alcohol" sticks out as particularly terrifying. "Rain in My Heart" is another one. Both are on Youtube.

There was an old doc about junkies that painted heroin users in a horrific light. Can't remember the name for the life of me though.

Edit: it was "Dark End of the Street." Just saw the above post.
 
Theroux The city addicted to crystal meth was pretty good too. Especially the guy who looked like George W. Bush and had been shooting meth with his wife for 20+years or something. They did not look like those people at all. That guy is a legend to me.

who the meth guy or theroux? personally i can't stand theroux but some of his docs are interesting
 
Can't say that a documentary has ever scared me too much. Maybe the Krokodil episode of Drugs, Inc.

Many life experiences with drugs however, scare the shit out of me.

The meth guy. Also he and the wife proved that doing meth alone doesnt ruin you, they were somehow able to live semi-healthy lives and looked good.

But I do appreciate Theroux as well as how he encounterts people in very difficult and strange situations . And some great subjects too.

I've seen that doc too and I remember them, yeah they managed to take good care of themselves appearance wise and didn't look like meth heads at all but he spent nearly all his income on it. he ain't no legend imo

That was some of the outright nastiest shit that I've ever seen in my life. I can't believe that one girl who'd been doing it for like a year and was kind of bragging about how nothing had happened to her. Talk about denial! From what I could tell, that shit was going to "get you" one day or another, end of discussion. Just because she'd escaped major damage so far, can she really think she'll continue unscathed? Hell, just typing this and thinking about that episode is giving me the willies. My vote goes to Krododil as the most nasty destructive drug I've ever seen!
 
To the best of my knowledge krokodil is (was?) a mixture of desomorphine and various contaminants left over from the synthesis of desomorphine from codeine. Basically they take OTC codeine and make desomorphine out of it in an evidently inefficient synthesis that leaves behind dangerous chemicals that really mess an IV user up. As to the actual potency of desomorphine compared to heroin, I do not know.
 
i'm hooked on these documentaries.

i know there are other threads with this topic but i like that we're up to date with what's posted here. just watched crack house. i had a hard time understanding what they were saying 80% of the time, but it was still very good.

Yeah if your not from the UK that doc could really do with subtitles. that's the scouse accent for ya!
 
The Drugged: High on Alcohol doc was horrifying and sad. Crazy how badly alcohol fucks people up, I can't imagine being addicted to booze like that, looks like hell on earth. I'd rather be a junkie any day of the week.

The one with those junkies shooting up the boiled poppy/vinegar mix was disgusting- i guess the dope scene in central europe isn't too hot!

Unfortunately it is true. And that guy doesnt even look that bad yet compared to what ive seen close to a public housing where end stage alcoholics live. They are hardly able to walk and whole bodies shaking all the time. The worst part is at that stage it doesnt even do anything to quit, you still going to be disabled the rest of your life. It is the worst drug of all.

Not sure what you were getting at regarding fear and advice. If you're referring to the documentaries, they were created as entertainment, for a profit. They aren't meant as advice although they certainly are frightening and might serve as an example of where reckless use will get you.
