It's been a conspiracy theory since the 70's...

And I was under the impression, due to evidence from third party space exploration corporations, that's nasa's claim had been verified thanks to super lenses being able to show the flags.

BUT the conspiracy theorists are still at it today! The best argument I've heard, is that, isn't it a little odd that no-one has visited the moon since 1972!? 40+ years of technology progression, you'd have thought the moon would be a tourist attraction by now.

has this conspiracy theory been debunked yet? or are nasa and the usa government still desperately misleading us all...

The radiation doses were high (from memory, supposedly equivalent to the average lifetime's worth of medical X-rays) and there is actually a higher rate of cancers amongst astronauts than the general population. Also eye problems due to cosmic rays.

I fukkin <3 conspiracy theories but this one has been so very thoroughly disproven time and time again it's beyond ridiculous. Yes top-end telescopes can literally see the tracks left by the moon rover and assorted other junk in exactly the places it's claimed to be. The supposed photographic evidence (shonky shadows and the like) can be easily explained with even a basic knowledge of photography and lighting. How come even Russian telemetry data agrees with the US telemetry despite it being very much against Russia's interests to "lose" the Space Race at the height of the Cold War? I could go on but frankly can't be arsed. Have at it.

They haven't been back there because it cost an absolute fuckton of money thats why... basically... are they still paying off the debt from it still??

There've been no manned missions since cos the Cold War ended and there's precious little on the moon worth investigating without spending a metric fucktonne of cash to go investigate. Unmanned missions can achieve most basic scientific goals (there's only so many soil and rock samples anybody really needs that badly) and the next stages will cost sillymoney with little or no real public appetite to spend that money in recent times.

NASA are supposedly designing the replacement for the shuttle specifically to be able to reach the moon (shuttle was never intended to be capable of that) cos the mineral opportunities are now looking more attractive.

The main proof that there were moon landings is the tonne of moon rock knocking around the scientific community (with very difficult to fake isotopic balances not found in earth rocks). I know space scientists, i don't think they've got the social skills to successfully pull off an international conspiracy like that.

Whether there are other dodgy things about space missions that were covered in the turbulence of those theories up is another thing.

Edit: there was a new partly british moon mission on the news today: they want to land in the south in a really deep crater to find evidence of the supposed planet (called thea) that crashed into the earth to create the moon. They apparently will pay for the mission with crowd-funding...

They havent been back to the moon cause they were warned off by EBEs, and sattelites have been knocked out in certain other no go areas in space. EBEs dont like being spied on. I also love conspiracy theories if u cant tell. And im not crazy honestly. I read one theorie that the nephillim are on the moon and can shape shift. you know the giants, fallen angles slept with human women and gave birth to the evil cross bred nephilim. supposedly goliath was a nephillim.
DIMENSION JUMPERS ARE AMONG US BEWARE ;)

Of course it fucking has. You've probably been on the internet as long as I have, so how could you not know this already?

I agree with everything Shambles said about the subject. Humankind's ambitions reach far beyond a nearby inert lump of dust, and there's no point going back there for little return on investment. Our biggest issues are how to maximise our velocity, test out the feasibility of carbon-based humanoids surviving in long term zero gravity, and what the fuck do we do about it when we get there, wherever "there" is. The Moon is cool but it's a plaything when we're talking about the long term evolution of us monkeys.

I fucking hate the fact that I won't live long enough to see what happens. It sometimes brings me close to tears, because we are so close. In a couple of decades people will be born and will become immortal in some way. I might read too much science fiction but I have faith that a lot of that is gonna happen. And the Moon will seem like a furball under the sofa by then.

God dammit Raas. :D

Are you trying to commit "suicide by Astronaut" or something?

Faking the moon landings convincingly would actually have been more effort than doing it for real.

It's not rock ..... er, it is rocket science, but you could get to the moon with A-level if not GCSE physics. And enough money.

We never went back to the moon because there was sod-all there. Not to mention the energy crisis of the early 1970s. We did leave a mirror on the moon, though, that you can bounce a laser off.

we got to the moon & back, apparently, with less computing power than appears in the average Mercedes these days.

Nontheless, I do think we did actually land on the moon.

Back when I was discussing this last, must have been early 00's, I suggested that we might have a strong enough telescope to be able to "see" the evidence of mans "trip to the moon" & I was poopooed. How about now, 15 years later, have we got telescopes strong enough to view astronauts footprints on the surface of the moon..?

Alright, alright. I had the same opinion but was speaking to a guy the other day whos seems convinced otherwise. Just checking the conspiracy wasn't more popular. I think some people are just keen to think the worst of governments. I mean, we shouldn't be naïve... but not biased to cynicism either.

Fake moon landing debunked. Time to shift our focus to the bible

i genuinely laughed.

I think we all genuinely laugh at OTW.
