What's Good on European and African TV v. Walking the Dead

I have started watching fucking iplayer lately. There is very little good content on there though. HIGNFY and that metal detectorists thing was ok but a bit mawkish.

No. No it was never cutting edge comedy - it was always shite and rarely even a bit funny. At least nobody felt the need to black up though so gets bonus points for that at least.

Trying to think of any good 70s comedy series that stand the test of time. Few and far between and no mistake. So far I've got Hithchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I know there are more but buggered if I can think of owt. May even take it to a poll if needs be Been ages since we had a poll on a matter of vital import. Poll.

The Good Life? I cant recall ever actually laughing at it, but it is many many years since i watched it, so i really cannot recall if it was any good atall. Penelope keith as the sexy posh neighbour was a bonus of sorts i suppose, or maybe a consolation prize. It was reported that a lot of people had a thing for Felicity Kendalls arse, voted one of the nices arses on tv by The Sun or something. Dunno why it never really did anything for me, perhaps it was the dungarees and stuff which no one could ever look sexy in imo, unless they were naked underneath on top :sus: :D

How about Yes Minister? Was that 70s? Surely that must meet your high standards? Oh Citizen Smith? Iirc that WAS good. "Power to the people!"

How could you forget Fawlty Towers, shambo???

And I wasn't serious about George & Mildred. It was as rubbish as the other 95% of shit we had to endure back then.

Yes Minister is still excellent today, agreed.

Was Fawlty Towers 70s? Borderline. Then again so is HHGTG. Suspect they were both early 80s but could well be wrong. Yes, Minister was and is excellent - good call. I must admit a soft spot for The Good Life. And a hard spot for Felicity Kendall and her posterior - really does deserve all the plaudits it receives. Of course I mention it only cos we're reexaming the 70s when there's no problem whatsoever in defining people by a single body part. Course that's all changed now...

(tis a belter of a botty though =D)

Very partial to a bit of Steptoe & Son too come to think of it. Rising Damp was good. Reggie Perrin. Seems I'm on a roll all of a sudden. This must be what it's like to have a functioning memory 8o

Oh, and Monty Python. That would count as both groundbreaking comedy and quality entertainment in general. Doesn't all hold up as well as my boyhood self assumed it would but the good stuff is still excellent stuff.

I much prefer 4oD for finding random things to watch, although iPlayer is great when you are wanting something specific that has been on.

4oD has better programmes than iPlayer, but several adverts in succession - argh!

All that's ever on in this house is ITV3. I find it depressing, with all of its adverts for stairlifts and frozen meals for old shut-ins.

Finished off Supernatural series 3 today (yes, bit behind there). Amazing programme so far, hope it doesn't turn to shit in the later series like, Dexter for example. Can see it becoming one of my favourites if it continues as it is though.

I'm up to season 6 currently. I can't remember when it loses it's way but it does for a series or so / gets a bit same-same. Still enjoyable to watch though.

I love Castiel... you are in for a treat with season 4. Worth watching just for his character! :D

Summer recommended supernatural a few days ago, sounds wicked, got hold of season 1 earlier

Supernatural fans turn me off it, with their "fandom" and "shipping" and "fanfics" and other such shite. I've seen the first series and enjoyed it, but then I found out about its fans.p

Did anyone catch The Thing on BBC2 last night?

Every series has its crazy fans, i bet the breaking bad fans are worse, who really gives a shit. Massive bands have crazy fans, am i gonna stop listening to their music because of the fans... no

If you saw what Manics fans are like, you'd understand what Kota's getting at. Ask swampy if you don't believe me. ;)

I'm in work now, but I'll check it out later of you post it.
