The 'What Have You Bought Recently?' Thread - Because Summer Is a Show Off

Ran out of painkillers a day early (pick them up tomorrow morning) and spend £30 on loperamide and grapefruit juice. Actually worked quite well but not worth the money and the treck round the innumerable pharmacies that it took to obtain the 112 lope tablets to keep me relatively pain free and out of wds......must remember not to run out early next time (yeah right)

How does it work? I know it stops the cramps and shits to an extent, but does it help otherwise? I've bought loperamide for WDs before, but only taken a couple of packs and it just about stops a total shit-storm. They sell it at the supermarkets and I've put 4 packs through the self-service thing before. Reckon I could take as much as I want.

Thing is I've got three weeks off at xmas and hoping to come off codeine in that time - does taking high doses of loperamide keep your tolerance high or if I hammer it will it just take the physical edge off things?

Loperamide will almost completely stop physical withdrawal symptoms of used properly. There are several tbreads on this. People forget that loperamide is a full mu receptor opiate agonist that was first developed by Janson ciagg (the people who invented fentanyl) as a pain killer....the problem is that it only crosses the blood brain barrier for a short time then is pumped out by p-glycoprotien.....graperdhjt jiuce inhibits cyp-34a in the gut which increases the bioavailability of lope tremendously... Some speculate that this increased blood level let it cross the blood brain barrier for longer and stay there producing CNS effects....also tonic water or black proper inhibit p-glycoprotein and thus give lope CNS effects.these should be taken a while before the lope is consumed.

If your gonna do this remember that these other substances increase the effects of lope tremendously so start low and work up....I only need tbat much cos I've got a stupid tolerance (up to 500mg methadone pills a day if my pain is bad and I'm off work).

In my (and others who've taken in properly and researched it) experience lope and its potentiators will comepletely stop WD symptoms (but doesn't make u particularly "high")....do be careful though.....some bluelighters have died (od) from loperaminde.... It really is a strong opiate of used properly with the right potentiators so be careful.

Forgot to add....some pharmacies sell packs of 30 generic lope (always get the generic and not immodium....much cheaper)...boots sell packs of 4 for about 80-90p and will let u buy 4 or 5 at once....just say your going on holiday and are worried about getting the runs or something. If you go to several pharmacies you can easily accumulate a lot....or better still buy them in bulk on line.....cheap as chips

Thanks so much for this mate :) - I'm sick of having a habit and I reckon I can stock up on Loperamide no bother. I know codeine is a pretty minor thing to get addicted to, but the physical side of WDs is pretty intense, so if I can manage that I reckon I've a good chance of not having to spend 2015 visiting 2-3 pharmacies a day 8(

Wow thanks for the info. It's like the other one that stops the runs but names gone arrrgggg thats an opiate too.

I had a codeine addiction. I have a support thread here on EADD titled "is any an codeine addiction? I keep meaning to update it. If you go to Where is xxxx you'll find
It "codeine addiction'

I'm actually on Suboxone. Please get yourself off before going that route. It 's a bugger to get off n I wouldnt advise unless absolutely last resort.

A lot of people do a lope taper to get them clean relatively pain free.....you can obviously get addicted to the lope if you use it for too long and it apparently has very nasty wds if you do get hooked...that seems pretty obvious though since if your using an opiate to stop opiate wds the chance to become Dependent on the reacement oopiate (lope) obviously exists.......

Again though if you do a bit of research (Google loperamide and grapefruit juice or loperamide and tonic water and you'll see a lot of research and good explanations of the pharmacology behind it). Most peoe when they try it take the dose on the packet or maybe a fee more with no potentiaters or inhibitors and then think " this doesn't work" and they're right.....at low doses without inhibiting cyp-34a or p-glycoprotein it won't have any CNS effect..... That's why it's OTC..... It only has CNS effects at higher doses when the relsvent ancillaries are used to raise plasma levels and inhibit the p-glycoprotein that is pumping it back out of the BBB.

Try checking out the loperamide mega thread as well...... The pharmacology of this is so interesting and when you do it properly you think....why did I suffer all these times when this was available OTC!!

Evey - I think it must just be this loperamide (brand name is immodium) that you are thinking about as there are no other opiate antidiarrheal meds sold OTC... unless you class codeine as an antidiarrheal.... (Which it can be to some extent)

Ok cool, thanks, this has definitely made me more sure I'm going to go for it when I've got this leave coming up. The best thing is it's not even OTC round here - it's on the shelves and you can take as many packets as you want, so I reckon I'll just buy a shitload to tide me over

Cheers Evey, but it's only London! The sainsburys round the corner has it on the shelves next to the rennies and whatever - reckon it should give me a fighting chance. Need to get off the stuff because:

a - it makes me ok with a bad situation

b - it fucks up my libido, and

c -I'm spending up to £25 a day on the stuff if I'm going all-out on paramol (average £10 a day, which adds up)

Just remembered: 4/5 years ago I had a fantastic (read benzo plus stimulant induced) idea to walk to the 'local' (2 mile walk) 24hr ASDA at 10pm on a Tuesday night to see how much I could embarrass the cashier while remaining stone-faced (though, I was closer to 'utterly stoned face').
I picked up a 48 pack of flavoured condoms, a tiny bottle of Durex lubricant, a big bottle of olive oil, a block of lard along with the largest Cucumber I could find and three gigantic Parsnips and innocently walked to the only human operated till in the store, as opposed to the masses of electronic, discreet ones.

At first he looked quizzical, before quickly shifting to nauseated shock. The intent eye contact and seductive wink I gave him only added to the situation.

i dnt gt tht jk soz

Re loperamide....all supermarkets sell it in the medicines isle (also sold in corner shops or anywhere) there are no restrictions its not controlled at all. ASDA sell a generic one for 95p for 6 tabs.....I've put 10 through the self checkout before. Just try to get the generic and not brand name (immodium) as the generic is about 1/3 and 1/4 the price.....you can PM me if you wantto know more.

It does criss the BBB but is immediately pumped back out by p-glycoprotein which is why the tonic water comes in. It contains quinine which inhibits p-glycopeotein and allows the lope to remain in thebrain and eexhibit CNS effects. The grapefruit juice inhibits cyp-34a thus increasing plasma leveles to the point that it remained s in the brain ......grapefruit juice is also thought to be a p-glycoprotein inhibbiter aswel
